Baggage fees using miles?
 
If I book my reservation with my CO One Pass card my first bag is free. What if I use my miles for a reservation? Do baggage fees then apply?

If you have a onepass card, then you will not pay any fees if it is mileage or not. The benefit extends to your party as well assuming they are on the same itinerary. (there is a limit of 12 people or so)

If the cardholder is booked in a group reservation. The agent will also deny
the traveler who has the card and claim "group reservations do not qualify for the bag waiver" Even though this non sense policy is clearly in violation of their own terms they will not back down. I complained all the way to the top
even the corp president who had a minion respond by letter and never backed down. You can read my frustration with this issue in other posts.

The CO policy in writing only excludes the others in the group reservation
not the card holder but they have reinterperted this internally

Yes, but the smart thing to do there is separate oneself from the group PNR. The OP (if I remember the thread) had a daughter with a card but didn't separate.

Did you dispute this with your credit card? There's no reason why they should deny your claim in this instance.

Just a quick follow up question. Are third party baggage fees covered too? Using my rewards I was able to book flights to Hawaii. On the return trip I fly Hawaiian air from KOA to HNL the its United and CO the rest of the way.

Im just wondering if the return baggage fees are covered to.

Last summer we went to Maui via Honolulu on CO metal until the interisland flight on Hawaiian Ain. Getting there no prob. Bags cvhecked through tagged elite priority bags.

Coming home, was a problem, because our first airport was on Maui with Hawaiian Air. They do not waive fees. I had to pay for multiple bags for all 6 of us. I probably should have written in, but did not. Never expected that to ahppen at all, but at the checkin, there we are shelling over a couple of hundred bucks. I was pretty steamed!

Thats kind of what I wanted to know. Sounds like I need to put it on the OnePass card and see if they can waive it later. Also, you didnt have to recheck in the bags at any other connection did you?

This is my first time flying where I have connections that switch planes.

Why so upset. The rule among most carriers has been that the baggage policy applied is that of the originating carrier. That said HA was the originating carrier for your return. Now they only should have charged you the inter-island baggage fees. I don't see why you would have a reason to complain about your situation as this has been disclosed to you.

Agree. Your beef is with Hawaiian Air's policies, nothing else.

OP - you won't win this one, except if Chase just waives the charge instead of having to look into the issue.

Third party bag fees are not covered. As I indicated above, the baggage policy of the originating carrier will apply. HA can check your bags all the way home, but your status or credit card benefits will not help you get your bag fees waived with them.
