If you had to standby for BF what would you rather be on -- the 752 or 772? Both flights I'm looking at are just about completely wide open up front (of course it says "no reward availability") I guess it all boils down to the ratio of coach vs BF seats.

I like the 772s.

Book it without the upgrade and then go in to the reservation, change your seat to an F seat and process the upgrade that way. :-:

But it is easier to find the flights that do/do not have the upgrades this way rather than buying the ticket then checking.

Thanks... I didn't know that. I'll try it.

Is there any rhyme or reason to when a "This flight segment is waitlisted" clears? My phx-ewr leg cleared last week (I got an email notification). My ewr-lhr outbound and ewr-phx return still are waitlisted, with plenty of F seats available. Just curious. I hope my SWU's go to good use!

Just over a week out and my CO 28 ewr-lhr on 6/9 hasn't cleared nor has flight 1635 ewr-phx on 6/14 cleared. Guess I'm looking at a battlefield upgrade now for both. There is plenty of availaiblity (but apparently not R) on each for BF/F. I hope these SWU's work--sure busted my butt getting them.

I hear ya.. one would think that EWR-LHR routing in summer would be a shoo-in as I've been told that a fair amount of business travel slows down in the summer (?) which would presumably more seats up front for SWU upgrade.

The challenge I'm faced with is booking a trip to HKG and not knowing if the SWU would clear. If it doesn't I'd be pretty bummed out.. maybe even upset :(

My wife and I used SWU's for HKG in April.... but expect to have to wait it out.....We cleared a few days out on both legs.

Calling SBM for clarification on SWU's

Please clarify a concern I have regarding the 2011 SWU’s that I will be receiving when they are rolled out soon. I understand that they are valid for one year from the date they are issued.

If mine are issued in June, 2011 will I be able to apply it to a ticket I will purchase in December, 2011 for travel in September of 2012 ??? or does the travel have to be completed within 1 year which would be very unfair.

Happy to take this one...based on UA usage, I'm 99% positive you will have to have your SWU-upgraded flights flown by June 30, 2012. It's always 12 months (plus any days you get as a bonus at the end of the original month of earning) until expiration - ticketing date does not matter (i.e., you can't extend the life of them by ticketing for a flight after your expiry date).

Someone correct me if the CO system is more generous...
