Platinum same day change(for free)

I know that as a Plat i can change my flight on the same day for free. If i have 2 other people in the same reservation, does that extend to them as well?

What about M-up or B-up? if i purchase 3 tickets at one of those fares can i M-up or B-up the others in my reservation if a seat shows up?

thanks.

No - the free SDC will only apply to you, and you can only M-up yourself. If the other pax are elite then they will be eligible for B-ups also.

only Elites are eligible for B-ups, and only Plats are eligible for M-ups.

I don't know about the change fee part. The only time I have ever had to change a flight with multiple pax in the same PNR was in a weather event when change fees are deep-sixed anyway.

Public service annoucment : this benefit doesn't exist on United, even when flying a codeshare, on UA metal. Expect to pony 50 dollars, despite the fact that its the same company, though not merged airline

That is what the rules say, but in practice you can change everybody on the PNR for free (CO Insider also confirmed in another post). I have done it more than once for my wife and myself. In fact, it presents an interesting problem at times. Do I split the PNR 5 days out to go for an upgrade on one seat, or do I leave the PNR together because I might want to SDC for free?

That sucks. UA lets you do everyone.

AFAIK, the waiver is mutual. I know CO changed theirs (the codes were posted on FT) and I believe UA has done the same.

Can I do a same day change to a longer route or one with more stopovers?
I have never done one of these before but could not find discussion on it.

Different route is not free. The 24 hour waiver lets you change flights on the same route without paying fare difference OR change fee as a Plat. You can change a given leg multiple times as well. I have done this when I decided to stay somewhere for a weekend, and just kept pushing out my reservation.

Be carefull if the route only flies 1-2 times per day though, a sold out flight could leave you unable to change. Both your original flight, and the flight you are changing too have to be within 24 hours.

Hmm,
I was thinking about this for more miles, but now I have another use.

I have a OW ATL-AVP I booked a while back with a UA ecert about to expire.
Outbound skyrocketed to 400+ even with lots of availability on both legs.
I can buy the same route on saturday morning for 165.

If the flight tomorrow afternoon is showing 9+ on both legs are my odds pretty good if I book the saturday 10AM and then use sameday change (24 hours) and leave Friday at 337pm?

So just to clarify if I book
AVP-EWR-ATL I cannot standby change to any other flight unless it has the same layover without incurring fees?

If by change to a longer route you mean change your connecting point or go from a non-stop to one with a connection then yes. I recently have been changing my DFW-EWR routes to one with a connection in IAH in order to get the extra 750 EQM and 1,000 RDM.

Yes that is what I meant.
So as long as the start and endpoint are the same will they let you switch to any routing available for that flight?

Yes, as long as the fare bucked you booked is available on ALL flights you want to change into. If loads are light, this is usually not a problem.

I have also used SDC to guarantee an EUA instead of flying on a flight that is already full in F.

United HELP

On 2/16 the MSP-EWR segment is flown as CO ExpressJet, the next day it is Shuttle America/United Express...does this mean I can't SDC onto the 2/17 flight because it's now operated by UA? Also, what happens when one segment is CO metal and one is UA metal, if I push back the CO metal flight, I'd have to be on a different UA metal flight, can I still make the SDC change? This merger stuff is starting to get really complicated and confusing.

I, too, am interested to know this. Can I switch a IAH-GSO to an IAH-EWR-GSO? or IAH-ORD-GSO? if within 24 hours without paying the fee as a Plat?

Bump. Anyone know if you can change a direct into a 1 stop (EWR-HNL to EWR-LAX-HNL) ?
