"Flight CO 1097 is operated by Continental Airlines."

I was checking some flights' schedule on Continental.com and found this footnote only under IAH-LAS flight which departs 7:20-25 AM.

What does this mean???

Looks like this note continues until from now to 1/3/2011 flight, then disappear after 1/4.
(I didn't check all dates, though.)

It may be too soon for an aircraft to be assigned, but it's possible that flight is being serviced by a CO aircraft flying the new UA livery...?

I've been seeing this on many random flights. Not quite sure why...technical glitch or preparing for significant cross-fleeting before merging the operating certificates?

I often see this footnote. Maybe it's the routes I fly. Sometimes the footnote will say "Flight CO XXXX is operated by Continental Express." or "Flight CO XXXX is operated by United Airlines." Maybe the footnotes will show only if flights to the same destination are on varying airlines?

I think what the OP meant is that, while it makes sense to note that CO XXXX is operated by another carrier (i.e. Continental Express or United), it's a little odd when it specifies that a Continental flight is operated by...Continental

That's exactly what I mean.

No big deal at all, but curious, what triggered that footnote on their own flight (it's not even CO Mike, which they put footnote), for specific period of time.
