Upgrade question
 

Hey there,
I'm scheduled to fly back home tomorrow OPO - FRA (CO flight number on LH Metal) - IAH (CO Metal).
This is a CO ticket that originated last week in IAH.
A couple of days ago I requested an upgrade on the FRA - IAH segment.
Called the Elite Dest and was put on an R waitlist. My original booking was on an H class so I was charged 350$ in addition to 20K miles.
This morning, 24 hours before the flight the Waitlist dropped. I called CO. An agent told me that since the flight is now Sold out in BF, it dropped and I can request to be put back on the list in the airport.
I don't have much experience with milage upgrades. Now I see that there are two people on the waitlist (CO 47, tomorrow, Sunday Dec 5th) and I'm not one of them. What gives?

Essentially the agent was correct that you have to request to be added back to the list at the airport if you are not added back when you check in for the CO flight in FRA. You do not show up on the PDA site list until you are checked in and checking in with a partner - LH in this case - often doesn't add you correctly which is why you need to talk to someone in FRA.

You didn't drop off because the flight is full; you dropped off because that's what happens at T-24.

Will the "someone" that I need to talk to in FRA is a GA?
I'm arriving from OPO on LH metal (CO flight number) and have already printed online a LH and CO BP for both flights.
Who do I talk to?

You need to find a CO GA / TA at FRA. I doubt LH folks will be able to get you on the u/g list for CO.

Any chance you can pull up your reservation on continental.com and use their online check-in function? That's probably your best bet at getting added to the upgrade standby list remotely. Might be a longshot given the first segment on LH, but worth a try.

If you can't do it until you get to FRA, don't worry too much. BF upgrades within 24 hours of departure are generally not cleared until shortly before the flight closes.
