upgrades from MHT

am thinking of switching to CO and *A for frequent travel to Asia. Sick of non award availability on DL but love DTW.

Do elites frequently get upgraded on MHT EWR routes? (Do upgrades exist?)

Would others make the switch from Delta to *A from MHT travel? I love DTW and am a bit worried about having to go through EWR.

MHT is the land of Continental Express (and occasional CoCo). All ERJs (and sometimes Dash 8-400s) to EWR/CLE.

Even post-merger, it's not that enticing - ORD is 3x CRJ-700 (18 daily F seats) - down from the days of multiple 757s on that route; IAD is all CRJ-200/ERJ-145s.

If going to Asia, Delta is probably the best bet if you're looking for upgrades on the domestic legs. At least with COUA, you have the option of going over ORD and IAD as well.

No Dash 8's ever to CLE, just ExpressJet flights.

MHT used to have Colgan occasionally to EWR, but I haven't seen them up in MHT in at least 8 months.

We used to have a 735 once a day MHT-EWR but those are days long gone :(

UAx does have a IAD-MHT flight (CRJ 700) that has first class seats (I know it was operating today, but not sure how often).

Nothing compares to DTW as far as ease of connection is concerned.
Nothing compares to the DL international upgrade policy either. But CO/UA may be just as bad as far as you are concerned.

Your should switch if you believe that post merger UA/CO will not make significant changes to their international upgrade policy and:
- You fly more than 100K miles/year (Will give you SWU certificates applicable to most fares).
- Or you are willing to pay $500 (+miles) more than a reasonable fare each way for a guaranteed upgrade (ON DL you have to purchase M+ and hope for an upgrade, on CO you have to pay the service fee, but it is refunded if you are not upgraded).

Happy travels
