Does R Class Earn Miles?
 

I recently purchased a coach ticket to UIO (Quito) and upgraded to First with miles. All of my documentation shows "R" class. Will this ticket earn miles (I paid around $630)? If so, how do I determine the fare class I actually bought into? There is nothing other than "R" on all my receipts, etc.

"R" class will earn EQMs based on original fare class.

To see the original fare class, you can't do that online.

What I normally do, is ask the ticket agent or gate agent (or President's club agent) for a itinerary/receipt. Those always have the original fare classes listed on them unlike what you get from CO.com or the Kiosk.

Your confirmation email will show the original booking code.

A $630 ticket to Quito from the US would likely be either T, N or L class.....So you will get 100% miles and EQM, no first class bonuses or anything. Have fun in Ecuador, I make the trip to Quito and Guayaquil 8-10 times a year, beautiful country!

Thanks for the info. My confirmation e-mail and everything I have show only R, hence the inquiry here on FT. Looking forward to the trip to UIO.
