When does this "merger" happen? What does it mean?

I've been hearing about this for months but so far, not much has changed. I still book my flights on CO.com and still fly every 3 weeks from DTW through IAH on CO aircrafts. I DID lose my NW Club access but gained access to the Lufthansa lounge at my airport.

I'm between gold and platinum now and should hit it by the end of the year, but I'm wondering what it's going to mean. When does the name change happen? Am I supposed to sign up for United's FF program or will my CO number just somehow transfer? A check-in agent in Anchorage told me that they were going to use United's name but most of CO's policies, etc. I don't know if any of that is true as we hear so many different rumors.

I guess I thought we'd have heard more by now. Has CO merged with United? Can I book a United flight, use my CO Elite number and receive the same level of service, like upgrades? I fly again on Saturday and am wondering when to expect changes. I've been reading as many posts as I can but things change faster than I can keep up.

Anyone know what's happening, when, and how it'll affect Elites?

Yes, many people know what's happening. Much of it is discussed in this forum, in fact. ;)

As for when to expect any changes that are merger-related that affect you, sometime next spring is a good target.

Ah, next Spring. That explains a lot. I was expecting some major changes right away, and wondered how to proceed with travel plans. But I am guessing that my plans for trips in October, November and December will be proceeding as normal. Thanks!

Losing Delta's SkyClub (formerly Northwest World Club) had more to do with the NW/DL merger, and the fact that CO joined Star Alliance and is no longer in SkyTeam. There was a period of about 4-5 months after CO left ST that you could still use the DL and NW clubs. (And vice versa)

LH is part of *A and you gained lounge access because of that.
