Is CO pulling capacity from your market?

I have been travel planning for the end of 2010 and the beginning of 2011 lately, and I have noticed a reduction in flying from my home market AUS.

I have been traveling to EWR weekly for years, and have taken advantage of the daily non-stop 6:30am flight frequently. It now looks like this flight is only flown on Mon, Thu, and Fri. Any other day, I have to connect through IAH. I don't mind connecting through IAH since it allows me to qualify for Plat quicker and with less CO trips, but any bail/Plan B option I used to have is now gone on Tuesdays (which is when I usually fly).

Anybody else notice a reduction in flying along those lines?

I think they have become very selective with regard to their frequencies in a number of markets. This includes COEx service.

I have had flights canceled far ahead of time with no real explanation, such CO 73 IAH-HNL. Closer to home, I've had COEx LFT-IAH flights canceled as well for no apparent reason. It appeared that MX or WX was not the issue. I think they canceled because they would have operated the flight at a loss.

I think it’s important to keep in mind that we are heading into a very soft travel period, excluding the limited travel days around the major holidays. With the economy still in a very questionable recovery I think the airlines are taking a wait and see mentality with their schedules and pulling capacity out to keep yields at profitable levels. I think it’s the prudent think for them to be doing but I expect to see lots of changes in the coming months as airlines get better reads on demand.

Usually, it's a MX problem on another route. The airline will, then, cancel the flight with the lightest load so that the fewest number of passengers are affected. Unfortunately, LFT-IAH probably meets the criteria.

You know... I was looking for travel in Early November ---

Was planning on El Paso but noticed that they have no mainline service - They changed the schedules this week on that.

Charleston, WV - gone....

Albuquerque - no main line

--- Yes feeling the capacity (particularly in the premium cabin) crunch. Refuse to fly ERJ to ABQ.

We have "standard" schedule changes. What you might be seeing is that the December schedule not being loaded into the system yet.

End of August/September til December is one schedule period.
December til March-May is another schedule period.
May til end of August/September is another schedule period.

Of course there are adjustments being made every month.
