EUA Question
My parents are on a flight to FLL tomorrow...they are both platinum and originally purchased their ticket on the same record locator. Unless thing have changed, I always thought that if you were 2 on a res and if CO only released 1 seat at a time for EUA upgrade within the window that you would get "passed over" because there were 2 people on the res (even if the same elite status).
The common wisdom was to split the PNR. So we split the PNR yesterday and separated out my mother who got a new PNR #. My father got an email 11 minutes before the 24 hour check-in mark that he was upgraded. My mother was not upgraded. I checked her in 8 minutes after the 24-hour mark and she was #2 on the upgrade list. BTW, there were 5 open F seats on the flight when we split the PNR. Is it possible that the person who is #1 has the same status and the same fare class and just checked in earlier? As well as my father grabbing the LAST F seat on the flight? Just seems odd that my mother was passed over and is currently #2...I know it could happen, but that's a lot of things that have to fall that way. I would just want to ask if it is still wise to split PNR based on the wisdom of being passed over. Thanks! - HobokenFlyer |
I would say it's definitely possible that the other people checked in first. They could be on the return leg of the trip an auto-check in. Are they both on the same fare basis?

They were both booked and ticketed at the same time (to be more specific, when I booked the flights for them I put "2" as the number of travelers in the flight search), so yes they have the same fare basis.

As Calvert mentioned any return travelers using auto C/I
or the 11 minute delay (actually 10) could be the answer The good news is that they have auto C/I on their return If they are flexible in their travel days you might suggest Wednesdays to Wednesdays |
