On DL she might be more likely to be upgraded too according to a recent email from DL Jeff:
"In other upgrade news, we will continue to offer unlimited Complimentary Medallion Upgrades for traveling companions and have made them even better:
Complimentary upgrade requests for Medallions and companions who are traveling together will now begin clearing 24 hours prior to departure rather than the previous 12 hours.
And, Complimentary Companion Upgrades are now available on all deeply discounted L, U and T Economy fares"

While I rarely get upgraded as a CO Silver (Gold this year, finally, but a one-time shot), I have allowed my now 16-year-old son sit in my First Class EAU seat many, many times, without a problem. for the past 4+ years. The flight attendants have never had a problem with this switch. Of course, he now has a certain sense of "entitlement", but I guess that is MY problem.
