New Revenue Stream

Jeff's crack marketing team has come up with

another way to bolster the bottom line

HSBC must be paying dearly for jetway billboarding and

now is getting placement on my "My Account" home page

Can't wait for the rest of the clutter to come

Certainly less painful than some benefit reductions

Meh. That really has no effect on the airline at all, so I think he is doing what he should, i.e. find new ways to increase revenue. What would you rather? Raised airfares?

I wouldn't even care if I saw adds on the trays, like JJ and others do. I think every chinese carrier I have been on does this, and yet i don't think any less of the experience.

Clearly you thought I was complaining

Just meant as a silly aside

Don't take life so seriously

I'm a happy CO camper

With the amount of  going around, what did you expect I would assume? Sarcasm does not translate very well in writing without the proper use of the

No Worries

Sorry if I wasn't obvious

I don't use little faces

Nothing to do with CO - HSBC is on jetways (quite annoyingly so) all around the world. YYZ is starting to look like a giant HSBC billboard.

When a company overdoes their marketing to that extent, I tend to go out of my way to avoid them.

Was on CX 777 and 330 recently. The airshow (flight map & stats) broadcast on the main cabin screen & armrest screens had advertisements between the stat & map pages. It was the one-slide print adverts like you see at movie theaters before the trailers. I remember Disneyland HongKong but not the others. It was annoying at first (seeing commercials on the large screen in the front of the cabin), but after awhile I just tuned them out. The rest of the flight service was excellent.

You should see Air Canada - there are a few MINUTES of ads before each program starts.

Remember Original Cable (pay) TV

The early conducement to pay for cable was "no commercials"

Now look for the programming between the ads

I can attest that BOM and HYD are plastered with HSBC ads.

They should buy terminal naming rights. Forget the airport, just call it the HSBCport.
