Co-72 12/3/10??

So I was booked on flight 72 on 12/3/10. Turns out as of today that flight does not exist. Normally not a problem. However I have non-refundable tickets on Hawaiin connecting from another island that will now not get me there on time. This is quite irritating. I need to go pay a change fee because CO simply dropped a flight? Will CO help me with the change fee on Hawaiin since they are partners somewhat?

Probably not. This is one of the risks one takes when booking separate itineraries. Next time try to book all on a single PNR to help protect against such things.

Excellent advice -- and despite it seeming as if booking such an itinerary is impossible, it's actually quite easy to do. Book your CO itinerary and choose "pay with cash" to hold the reservation. Then, call the CO web support desk and ask them to add on the HA (or other airline) flights you are looking for. Finally complete your booking. I realize that won't help you this time...

As far as what to do this time, you can always call CO and ask them to assist you. They may not be able/willing to do so, but it never hurts to ask.

You don't even have to, "pay with cash." If you hit cancel on the booking page, you get a pop up asking if you need assistance. The temporary PNR assigned to the itinerary shows up. At that point you call co.com support and they can add HA flight. After that, you "purchase" on the web site. This also keeps the "onlineness" of the whole thing.

If you bail and finish with the elite or regular reservations desk you risk incurring fees and such if you're not platinum.

In this case

I didnt want to blow the extra 10k miles per passenger for the hnl-lih segment. Thus elected miles on CO and cash on Hawaiian. Obviously never expected them to scrap CO-72. I have been to the islands many times and have always returned on CO-72

We had F seats on CO 73 IAH-HNL for 10/2 when the flight was abruptly canceled several days ago.

Does anyone have any intel with regard to what's going on with CO's Hawaii service? Of course, I would guess this is a cost cutting move; however, I thought they were doing rather well with two 764 r/t flts. a day IAH-HNL.....but perhaps not.

Could this perhaps be in anticipation of the (proposed) merger? Probably a little premature to start rationalizing capacity...

They certainly have not tried lowering prices to fill that second flight

I was actually thinking that the timing was quite coincidental with the planned end of the 772 BF conversion and potentially well timed for the start of the 767s to be converted.

Why should they?

Excellent observation with regard to the start of 762/764 BF conversion program. ^

Do you know when this will commence and which 767 model will be the first for the conversion?
