help! stuck in middle seats...seat assignment question!
 

hi CO forum--

im flying this afternoon from EWR to TLV in Y. so is my girlfriend. checkin has us both stuck in random middle seats not near each other and there are no other seats currently available.
expertflyer is showing 0 for all fare buckets except J3 Y1.

my question is there any way we are gonna be able to change our seats? whats the best way to go about that?

You can ask the gate agent, they will sometimes take your bps and try to see if they can do something, I had to wait until the plane was fully boarded once but the gf and I got to sit together.

When is the flight scheduled to leave? I would run the OLCI process for both of you (use separate browsers to do it simultaneously) the very moment it opens for your flight and try to get some of the seats which might be blocked. I assume from your profile you have no CO status, so you are not seeing availability in the premium section.

The OP says that they're flying this afternoon, so the horse has left the barn on that one. The best you can do is trying to check in a couple of more times over the next few hours and see if anything better has opened up. Failing that, the GA is your best bet. good luck --- it's a long flight to be crammed into a middle seat.

Don't forget that CO has a policy about POS so if there's a particularly obese person flowing into your seat that needs the armrest up or needs more than one seat belt extender, call for help before the door closes, and make CO take the POS off the plane, if necessary, not you --- that's their policy.

PS Once flight opens for checkin at 24 hours, premium seats are up for grabs by anyone
