Looks absolutely awful! Lets just keep the UA livery and logo. It looks so bad, I hate it!

On paper, I must concede the deal makes sense. But in another thread, Gordon Bethune has been allegedly quoted as being thumbs down on the deal, and who am I to question his judgment? Actually, we both kind of see it the same way. I'm not quite seeing the "equals" in this merger of "equals". Kind of like when Daimler Benz announced the same with Chrysler.
The one wild card in this deal is maybe VX, they were slowly, subtly, but surely going after UA's business. UA does get an upgrade in management, but it's hard to judge Smisek while he's still trying to grow into the job of CEO. I'm not sure it's going to be enough of an upgrade. It won't be enough of an upgrade for me to probably switch back to DL next year.

Best news about the merger so far from a CO perspective at least.
I'm Very glad the colors are staying!

This is a sign of good things to come. Keeping the livery & logo probably means retaining the CO.com design.

Ha! I'm surprised -- but glad -- that they saw it my way.

I'm sure the reason they're keeping it is that it's better. When I see the CO livery, I think "strong, professional, worldly." When I see the UA livery I see "failed wimpy/new-agey attempt to modernize old established livery."
But they still seem to be making a minor mistake. The old livery thread has a link to the official new design:

They're putting "United" in the CO typeface, and making it large. I would leave it in the "UNITED" typeface that's on their current aircraft. It looks stronger, and would be more familiar to current UA flyers.
As a CO elite, I will say it will be comforting to see the old livery around. It will feel like I'm still flying "good ol' Continental." Warm, happy feelings will fill my brain. If they had adopted the UA livery, my brain would be saying "God, I hope this new airline is better than the old UA."

AWESOME!
I was 100% certain that the United brand would stay wholesale, but I guess I was wrong! Very satisfying news to wake up to.

I absolutely love it. The logo, colors, and font are WAY more dominant than the letters U N I T E D. It makes me feel good - like my favorite airline is still going to be there. Way to go, Jeff!

It is interesting, but I think UNITED looks better than United even on the CO livery.

I like the Death Star globe, but they really need to work on the "United" text if the website's artist rendering is anything like what an actual painted jet will look like.

I'm still waiting for Greyhound to be added to the mix! ContiUniHound, indeed.
