Work Hard, Fly Right

I will miss the Work Hard, Fly Right CO company slogan. Do you think United would ever use this.

channa Apr 30, 2010 8:22 pm

It's time to fly right?

TWA Fan 1 Apr 30, 2010 8:23 pm

Goodbye CO

Perhaps as a gesture of tribute to CO, the slogan could be modified to read:

Work hard, fly right into the sunset...

I believe the punctuation you are looking for is the ?, popularly known as the question mark.

What about the internal employee chant, "Rah! Rah! We're the best!"

Do you think UA will use that too?

tv_man Apr 30, 2010 9:27 pm

Sure...

Tiger Woods said he had no right to act entitled. You're not Tiger; what's your excuse?||~+|

Maybe you can give us your excuse...for making such a ridiculous comment

Ridiculous comment? More like a fair suggestion. Wouldn't hurt to step up the quality of English in this forum a bit ;)

Yes. Until the merger dust settles it will be Work hard, Fly hard.

The death of your tired refrain can't come soon enough... NJDavid reincarnated!

Odds are the very same attitude will pervade UA as well, since CO folks will likely comprise much of the leadership at new UA, including the boss of bosses. Will it be okay then?

ADAMESQ May 1, 2010 11:14 am

The iconic signage (white lettering, blue background, gold border) will probably go to history's dustheap along with 'Work Hard, Fly Right' and the livery....

How could it possibly remain if the carrier will be rebranded United?

If old signages remained, things could get pretty confusing. The current Continental would have to called Texas International Airlines-Continental Airlines-PeoplExpress-Eastern Airlines...

Of course it can't - - just being preemptively nostalgic.

milesmilesmiles May 1, 2010 11:32 am

Very Off topic....but

What would FCTSTY (Fly Continental to See the Yanks - for anybody under two years of age on this forum) think about all this

I know the feeling. I still have a few pieces of TWA-branded stuff...and it's meaningful to me because it reminds me of the great TWA people who loved that airline so much.

How about UACO Air? Pronounced "Yucko" Air.

What about keeping the Globe logo and superimposing the "U" over it somehow? Freshen the United logo (which is pretty tired), and maintain a piece of the CO brand?

**Sigh** I wonder if they will repaint the new CO 739s in a pre-faded UA washed out dirty gray scheme to match the rest of the fleet? I'm always impressed when I land at IAH and EWR and see the nicely washed white planes with blue tails - It really speaks volumes for everyone behind the airline. Graphically CO wins hands down.

CAL PHL FLYER May 1, 2010 7:36 pm

Id hope they would not! I never liked the work hard, fly right..it just never made sense to me..The best advertising I think an airline ever had was "your not just flying, your flying the friendly skies" this was a clever tune that I think maybe Barry Manilow had preformed? @:-)

CAL PHL FLYER May 1, 2010 7:38 pm

I like the UA logo..I just wish they went back to the red and blue on the tail! :)

I'll also miss the livery. It's hard to imagine looking out of the floor to ceiling windows of IAH E and see nothing but gray planes--the same color as the tarmac.

That's very unlikely, since UA's new livery is white and light blue.

Either UA will stick to their script and leave the CO planes as is, or they will paint them in the new livery.

Even in their current fleet, the majority of their planes now have the new livery.

Is that to say the change to the new colors is nearly
complete? I haven't seen planes with the new livery at AUS, but that doesn't mean none fly in there. Regardless, I'm not nuts about the new UA livery. It doesn't have the snap of CO's, and there's just nothing like pulling in to IAH E and seeing nothing but white, blue, and gold.

I am not saying the UA livery is good or bad...that's really a matter of taste.

As far as the percentage of planes with the new livery, my understanding is that they have been painting an average of about 50 a year since the end of 2004. With their current fleet at 359 a/c, this means more or less 100 planes remain in the old livery...

Went back?
UA isn't even done going away from the grey livery.

meFIRST May 2, 2010 7:28 pm

Lets face it.

UA's marketing is top notch.

Look at thier kiosks - and compare them to CO.

We need to get used to "it's time to fly...."
