Onepass, CM, and GRU question
I recently took a flight for the 25% EQM bonus on CM. I am plat on CO.
I went LAX-PTY-GRU-PTY-LAX When I checked in to GRU, I went upstairs to the vip lounge area. I saw a sign for GOL Smiles and under it they had Copa Onepass listed. I handed the lady my boarding pass and my onepass card. she asked me if I had the copa card. I looked at her and said "what copa card? Cops is part of onepass which is a continental program" She insisted there was a copa card, that I had to show it or pay for the AA lounge next door. So, what is she talking about and why couldn't I get in? |
Gol isn't part of *, if they have a separate arrangement with CM it didn't apply to CO. There's a RCC at GRU, why not use that?
|
You have to go over to Terminal 1, as soon as you get to T1 (airside), on the left side, is United's RCC, which will give you access based on your *G.
After passport check, go upstairs, past Gol, AA club, take the bridge over to T1. |

Doubtful if youre not actually a PC member. |
that's why!
I was told the only clubs there were the GOL and AA lounges... no one mentioned crossing to T1
but even if they had, I probably wouldn't because of the CM ticket. LAX gives me a hard time every-single-flight. For some odd reason though, they let me when I show them a connecting ticket on CM in B. But, my question is, why did the lady ask me for my COPA onepass card? Is there such a thing? |
I called COPA in Brazil this afternoon, they said there is a lounge.
Then when I asked what were the policies to enter, she transferred me to an elite agent, but the call dropped and couldn't get an answer. I'll try again tomorrow. Last time (March) when I went to the RCC at GRU, I just showed my OnePass card. I don't recall showing my boarding pass. Will try again in the next 2 weeks. |

Not if flying on CM which is not part of *A. The *G rules require one to be departing on *A metal.
For some reason I always think Copa = CO. Maybe is the similarity of the logo. But more likely my small brain.:D |
well.. that kind of is my point.. COPA is the low-cost version on CM, basically.
If copa says there is a lounge, I'm pretty sure they mean the GOL lounge, right? So, no one can clarify if there is a onepass elite card with the copa brand instead of CM?! as far as I know, onepass = CO and not CM |

I live in costa rica, and my onepass elite card shows Continental, Copa and Aero Republica on it. Perhaps this is what she is referring to?
I met some CM elite travelers, but did not see their membership cards. I wonder if it would be rude to ask … Copa referred me to GOL for some quick trips CNF-GRU. Not sure if they have an official alliance. Gol is an AA partner, so earned a few AA points on that route. TAM also flies between these cities (CO points), but the Gol flights worked better for me. |

Copa refers to these as “one of our mini-alliances.” You can earn CO points on all three.

It's actually fairly confusing. I guess they have code-share flights but not a true alliance? |
CM still has KL as a partner, too, but they are not a OnePass partner.
Yes, it is a bit confusing, but not impossible. CM has some airline partners for earning and lounges that CO doesn't have. But, in the end, points are still earned in the OnePass program. |

Or is this not possible? I guess the main point is, how can you accumulate miles with non-onepass airlines that partner with CM? |
