EWR Closed

Imagine my surprise when I got up this morning, checked my flight and it was on time. So, I trump over to the airport in these lovely conditions, even getting a nice TripAlert email saying my flight is on time as i'm driving.

Fast forward 30 minutes later and I walked into EWR to see the display board say 'Canceled' next to every flight. I then proceed to walk over to a kiosk, and I can print out my boarding passes and it tells me my flights are on time.

The official answer is EWR is closed, but apparently IAH hasn't gotten the word yet since they think everything is still on time.

Joy. C'mon CO, can we at least have a consistent answer???

Still at the airport? I'm camped out at the bar in C2/3 PC and annoyed because the contract bartenders decided to not show up. I got rebooked for a flight that I'm pretty sure is also canceled and am now trying for more creative options.

Thumbs down

It appears only CO is cancelling all their flights out of EWR. My AC flight shows only an 1 hr delay.

The same thing happened yesterday. CO cancelled all their flights out of EWR but many other airlines had outbound flights out of EWR.

Glad they cancelled this morning - I hate flying into bad weather.

Reservations systems often lag a bit behind the systems that control the information regarding flight status.

I saw what I think was a CO 735 on approach (from the North) about 5 nm from EWR at about 7:15 am.

I'm sitting at the airport now. Nothing is leaving. There is one flight on final approach - the redeye from LAX - and one AA flight left a few minutes ago but it is hardly just CO as the only ones canceling all flights.

If the bar was open, it would help with the creative options.
Good luck.

As of right now, AC flights are showing only delays while CO is cancelled. Looking at yesterday's flights, it certainly was only a CO issue.

These are from 2/25/2010
CO3302 EWR-YYZ 6:35AM-8:20AM CANCELLED
CO2092 EWR-YYZ 8:15AM-10:08AM CANCELLED
CO2296 EWR-YYZ 10:15AM-11:47AM CANCELLED
CO2504 EWR-YYZ 12:00PM-1:28PM CANCELLED
CO3308 EWR-YYZ 3:15PM-5:05PM CANCELLED
CO2320 EWR-YYZ 4:15PM-5:53PM CANCELLED
CO2098 EWR-YYZ 5:15PM-6:53PM CANCELLED
CO3310 EWR-YYZ 8:30PM-10:19PM CANCELLED

AC763 EWR-YYZ 6:25AM-7:59AM Arrived
AC765 EWR-YYZ 8:50AM-10:26AM Arrived
AC767 EWR-YYZ 10:55AM-12:31PM Arrived
AC777 EWR-YYZ 2:35PM-4:11PM Arrived
AC769 EWR-YYZ 3:50PM-5:29PM Arrived
AC771 EWR-YYZ 7:30PM-9:15PM Arrived
AC773 EWR-YYZ 8:25PM-10:01PM Arrived

You get the idea. At least for yesterday, it was only CO that was cancelling flights across the board. Other airlines had delays but got people where they needed to be.

That's not an issue. With no bartenders, the bar is mostly empty.
