Cheeburger, Cheeburger

I experienced a new menu item for the first time tonight - the 'slider' cheeseburgers.

I have to give them a thumbs down - the original F-cabin cheeseburger was so delicious, ranked second only to In-N-Out on my cheeseburger hall of fame.

Ours were served without cheese (a CO first?), although the FA called them 'cheeseburger sliders'. Honestly, they appear to be nothing more than a cost cutting attempt to save on the expense of meat (the patties were tiny) and replace the lost size with bread (cheap ingredient). There was little to no meat flavor, and it's a poor substitute for the original cheeseburger.

I hope these are being served in addition to the cheeseburgers, and are not a replacement for them.

Wow, sounds like Economy Plus but with free white castle...

:td:

Not sure which is more of a joke -- the turkey dog in the back, or the 59-cent White Castles in the front.

Have they been using the North Houston Elementary kids for catering focus groups again?

If you don't like it, as much as I hate wasting food, I highly recommend that you return it uneaten for the most part. they study this as big factor in success or fail of a menu.

We give em to the pilots.

I kid! I kid !

If it is just bread, it would be pretty safe :p

Well, to paraphrase Mr Bethune, you can apparently make a cheeseburger that's too cheap to eat!:D (my sincere apologies to Mr Bethune, one of the best airline CEO's ever!)

I would certainly hope it is a very distant second to the Holy Grail that is the In-N-Out Burger, at least in the view of this East Coaster!

Seriously, I think we have this whole 'gourmet slider' trend to blame. Virtually every decent to upscale restaurant I've been to lately has attempted some sort of slider variation... what a cheap cop-out, but they are rarely cheap! Stuffy restaurants where a good, old-fashioned hamburger was far too declasse to ever appear on a menu now seem to have embraced the concept, though I highly doubt CO's sliders are anything reminiscent of (or even resembling) Kobe beef.

I say bring back the jambalaya, I haven't had that in a few months. While we're at it, let's resurrect the classic lobster bisque too, it used to be the best 400 calories of every flight.

I bet...

...the cheeburger sliders are still better than the turdog, but that's not saying much.

Not sure where you heard this but FA's don't report on leftovers. In fact, we usually eat them so any research done beck at Chelsea wouldn't be very accurate.

If you don't like them, don't order them. We'll be happy to share your turndown with the rest of the crew. Instead, let CO know with feedback because this is a test item.

Had these twin mini-burgers yesterday. Not great, definitely a step down from previous fare.

But not awful.

I beg to differ regarding In-N-Out offering the best burger, I can think of two places (one in West Orange NJ and one in Deefield Beach, FL) that serve way better burgers than In-N-Out.

However, the CO sliders get a big thumbs down from me, they were nasty, dried out and greasy.

On my flight from IAH to LAX on Sunday they were an option. I had Salad with Grilled Chicken but my seatmate had Cheeseburgers. I thought they looked pretty good and based on what he left behind he must not have thought they were too awful.

BTW little TV in the seat in front of me is pretty cool. I think this was my third flight with that option.Wish they had map tracker to see where flight is en-route.. I sort of like that.

FA's don't, chelsea does. they study the trays. Hopefully if everyone returned them all the FAs would not eat it all and skew the results :D

and I heard it right from the head of ops there. garbology

The catering tour was great....maybe they could replace the sliders with those fantastic mushroom truffle balls?
