Tracking your Flat Bed Experiences in....Y
 

Yesterday I flew EWR-LHR, my last 3 flights to the UK (MAN and LHR since November) sitting in coach class I have had the luxury of a 3 seat lie flat bed on 2/3 flights, the other 1 was OP upped via MAN. I did not pay for the extra seats but I got lucky I guess.....It got me to thinking who else is getting lucky like this in Y lately on CO?

So I thought lets start a thread for all of us coach fliers with our stories of getting a lie flat bed on CO in coach, flame away if you want.

I was on CO 110 last evening.

Last year I flew CLE-ATL on a RJ of course. I was in the first row on the left side,
pleanty of room. Due to weight and balance issues, I was asked to move to the back
of the plane. I was on the right side 2 seats against the window but there was a hugh
man (350lbs) sitting next to me. What a difference. I felt crammed in. I fly alot
and usually have bulkhead seats on 737's or even first class whenI get upgraded.
After that experience, I tired to change my return to a real plane (737) even
ATL-EWR-CLE but could not do this as all the EWR flights were filled.
I do not like RJ's and livein a city where more then 70 per cent of flights are RJ's.
I would take a DC6 or a Electra over an RJ.

It had been a while but I had 33DEF on EWR-BRS when it that flight first started in 2005.

Occasionally, I have 44AB or 44KL for myself on the 772. Not flat bed, but I can still sit sideways (Yeah, that's old photo too, pre-AVOD):

Wife and I BOTH got lie-flat Y on EWR-CDG last June. Rows 15 & 16, no less. That was pretty awesome.

I had lie-flat Y (along with a dozen or so other folks) on UA this past Friday morning EWR-SFO on the 6am flight. That was great for getting another 4 hours of sleep.

I was flying with a friend in a 2-4-2 configuration out of YVR, I was on the far aisle and he was beside me on the aisle of the middle section. There was a guy on the far side of him and 2 empty seats between them. After take off the guy was smart and quickly laid himself out taking up the 3 seats and he was the perfect height to have his feet just to the armrest separating him from my friend. My friend slept a bit, but that guy had the perfect set up and, except for the odd food and bathroom break, he slept laying flat all the way... to HKG!

Not to pee in the everyone's punch bowl here but...

Once the door closes, it is open seating in coach, right (unless there are weight/balance issues on a regional jet, for example)?

So, if someone was unhappy with their coach seating (sitting in a middle seat), I assume they could wake someone laying across three seats and, basically, demand one of the seats?

Demand? No. After all, each of us is actually only assigned a single seat. And it is an assignment more than a suggestion, thought there is some gray area there.

But If someone is in a middle I'd not insist that I get my 3 seats. That's just bad form, IMO.

I had 5 Y to myself last night on a UA 772 with the 2-5-2 config. Slept like a baby. :cool:
