Security at BRU / BF to BRS

Hi,

I've got my first trip on CO metal since they joined *A, and I've got a couple of questions I hope the CO regulars can answer.

BRU - CO don't fly BRS-EWR on Tuesdays in the winter, so I'm on SN BRS-BRU, then picking up CO61 to EWR. I've got 60 minutes to connect at BRU, which is right on the MCT. Normally it'd be a rush, but doable. I'm just wondering if tighter security procedures make that connection more fantasy than reality?

BF Upgrades - it's looking like CO61 is open for award bookings in C, so I'm assuming that an *A Upgrade request will clear. By the looks of things, my chances of getting miles upgrade on CO76 are poor, as it's showing no C award avails on ANA. (I'm LH SEN). Is there a close link between award avails and upgrade avails? Do CO ever do gate upgrades for cash?

I haven't done the transit at BRU in some time but I can tell you that it is brutal. Depending on where your SN flight parks at terminal A it will be a long walk to catch your CO flight at terminal B. I would expect a transit of anywhere from 60-100 minutes. There is the long walk from the SN terminal to the security check. Then, a good wait there. Then, you have to walk a good distance to the adjoining terminal to catch your CO flight. Anyone else done the BRU transit more recently?
