Thank you. Not that it matters much to me... I don't expect to find myself that deep into the other side of 100k any time soon.

Yay, 300th post!

Great enhancements

One suggestion --- maybe for next year give every Plat 1 SWU?

I would hit both without, although I did adjust my flying because of it. I flew 130k butt in seat miles on CO last year, and will finish around 95k on CO this year. I will finish with 130k on United. I could have been higher on both if it had made sense to do so.

CO-95k
UA-130k
AA-40K
WN-43 Segments
B6-18 segments
FL-9 segments

In case it reads otherwise, I am in no way down on Continental, they are my favorite carrier, and I will still book on them as often as before, I just needed to decide where to park the miles next year, and with my current circumstances, I think it makes more sense to park them at UA. Now, when I hit 100k in 2010, I'll probably start aiming at 100k on Continental. Also, if double promos happen again, I'll probably adjust a little on those too.

Million Miler Spouse Benefit

This is great news. Like many, I only wish it included 2009 since it's been a record year for me.

One question I haven't seen addressed:

Does the designated spouse/significant other status match for million milers include the Presidential Platinum Elite level? (clearly it does for the 4 MM level, but what about those who qualify by miles and $?).

Thanks again for keeping the OnePass program fresh!

I'll be ending the year with 189 points and 189,714 miles. I'll easily have similar figures next year but I won't make Presidential Platinum because I'll probably not spend $30K. It would be nice if CO would consider something other than 4 SWUs for those of us who are obviously extremely loyal customers but don't make that $30K threshold.

I think you still get the SWU as long as you get beyond 100k.

Ok, I have a question for CO INSIDER (or anyone who knows):

Years back, I somehow managed to put up with CALite (and other unfortunate events) and qualified for the Infinite Elite program. I was told I'd have "top tier" for life.

Having said that, I just saw the post that said Infinite Elites would not in fact get this newest "top tier" so I'm just wondering: why not?

Not complaining, but I am curious (what happens if yet another tier comes along later?)

Are there that many Infinite Elite's around? (I've no clue)

Isn't a deal a deal?

PS - Certainly some positive changes for the OP program regardless!

Need better search tools to support SWUs

CO's reward travel tools are decent, if one has flexible dates and wants to use miles directly on CO. As far as I can tell, there is no similar tool that would help in booking an SWU flight.

I can easily see flying 100K in 2010, then using four SWUs to take my wife to Rome and back from SFO in June, 2011. Like, anytime in June, any 6 to 12 day stretch where we can be sure of the upgrade in both directions, booking in advance.

Looking at June 2010, I see nothing whatsoever available on this route, period. I haven't checked all dates, highlighting the need for better search tools, but I actually suspect there is no availability.

If what I'm hoping for is unreasonable, just say so. But what does that say?

If the SWUs are only good to London in February, I'll pass. I'm sure the truth is somewhere in between, but lets not all spend our SWUs in our imagination till we know if we can actually find the flights!

Thanks for sharing the enhancements directly, Scott. Good moves.

They're not something that I see impacting myself, but it continues to be great to read about things first hand here.

OK - this is very good news!

However I have a couple of questions I dont think I have seen answered:

With million miler status if I qualify for Presidential Plat, will my spouse also get the same status (or just regular, lowly, common, dirt Plat ).

Does any one know what the spending critria for CO* is (was). I have been a CO* for as long as I have known about the program, and I am trying to get some perspective.

UA award tickets cannot be upgraded unless you're GS. However, I suppose maybe this is a benefit to go with platinum elite...

Any information on whether this would be usable on UA flights, or if UA SWUs can be used on CO flights in some reciprocity manner?

Yes, get us hooked! No in all seriousness, one SWU would be really nice for the people who flew over 100k miles this past year. DEQM promos ran for a considerable amount of time, but not the whole year. Us plats still flew a lot in 2009!

I'd say E+ is like the cot; CO's Y is like a concrete floor with no heat.

Nothing changes in terms of being just under top tier, but the OP's UA mile redemption options will be severely limited compared to CO. Perhaps the only reason to now credit to UA is for more SWUs.
