DO DO ?
Have not seen anything on any "DO's" in Houston. Will there be anymore or is this going to be a casualty of our economic times?:(

It was announced at the DO IV that it was the last of the biggies

There was one just a couple months ago - about 20 people for drinks and dinner mid-September. I showed up along with Mackieman at the end for the drinks part. Good times.
My guess is that more will come along as people have time and energy to plan them. :-: |
:(
I chose not to go to DO IV because of very recent death in the family. Told myself "I'll go next year!" Was looking forward to same general time, so i could claim it was a birthday gift to me... |
I would also not expect anything to happen immediately in the wake of Larry Kellner's departure.

CO DO III
It is universally recognized that CO DO III was the all-time best of the mega DOs, because yours truly was the star. The mega DOs may be over, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The mini/regional DOs offer an intimacy and intensity the mobs at the mega DOs can't muster. Perhaps this will spur more folks to have a DO in their fair cities. I have been to mini-DOs at CLE, SEA and SXM, having as good a time as I did in IAH. You may want to join in the mini-DO fun. Our esteemed moderator, xyzzy, recently organized a Welcome to Star Alliance DO in NYC. And sdm1130 is having a Brew DO in PRG in January. I have long been cajoling our Scottsmen brethren to organize an EDI DO, alas to no avail. :( Still, hope springs eternal. And if not EDI then some other distinct and flavorful locale will do. Come on, you locals. DO your part! ^

The mega DO's were the product of Cigarman and his relationship with Larry Kellner. They are likely history, and with Larry departing at the end of the month the link is no longer. Jeff is a great guy and supported the DO's but he never attended all the weekend DO events. You may see CO Insider attending a social event, but mini DOs - while fun and interesting - are social networking not airline events. |
Next Houston mini-DO will be in around March/April. The planning starts soon!

At least one of the NYC mini-Dos involved tours at EWR and CO employees have attended many of the smaller events. They aren't solely FT-er only.

Larry indicated that there could be future DO's - but smaller events for customer feedback. I suspect that if such events occur in the future they will be CO Insider or marketing planned. One feature of interest for most of us airline geeks to attend a social DO - is the endless conversation on airline FF programs and airfare deals, which would be boring to others not as interested. Chance for like minds to get together. |
Never say Never...
