Going from B to C at EWR

Guys,

We're flying GLA-EWR-TPA on Wednesday. I've been looking at the GLA-EWR flight recently and it seems to be arriving in B now instead of C. Now in all my flights into EWR I've always arrived and departed from C.

Can anyone advise on the best route from B to C? I'll be travelling with the Mrs and our 4 year old.

Thanks

You'll have to take the AirTrain and go through security again at Terminal C.

It will definitely be a bit of a schlep with your child.

But kids usually enjoy the monorail :)

Since you'd have to reclear security anyway, this would only add about 10-15 minutes at most.

Also, you can recheck your luggage in terminal B, so that's a bit less trouble.

Thanks guys. That was the info I was looking for.

The EWR AirTrain is free between terminals, and you definitely get what you pay for. They should tear it down and start over.

You're welcome to walk. The path is even covered most of the way.

And I don't find the AirTrain all that bad most of the time, though a few months back when there was construction and no notifications of anything it was pretty frustrating.

The AirTrain will be fine for the short jaunt between terminals B & C.

The most frustrating feature of the AirTrain (when it's acutally not broken down) is that it's composed of a series of tiny cabins which do not connect.

If you're traveling with your family and "vacation"-level baggage, it could be a challenge getting into one of the comparments if, by chance, it's already packed with people (which only takes about 5 or 6 people).

Right after you exit out of US CBP, veer left and there will be a sign indicating CO baggage recheck, but I believe it applies to all baggage recheck. Make sure your bags are tagged all the way to PBI otherwise you will have to carry them with you to C on the AirTrain. You'll see a number of people heading left and then see the baggage belt. Usually an employee will take the bags from you since they have to rescan your bag before it gets placed on the belt.

You obviously do not remember the 'pre monorail' days, where you waited and waited and waited for the bus to take you to the parking lots/other terminals, or as mentioned 'walked' to them. Despite their problems, I'll take the monorail over the buses anyday!:D And you gotta love the airtran connection -- especially for me, who can take NJ Transit to EWR easily ^

ok, thanks. Is there any express lane for tight connections like they have in C. I only have 120 minutes to connect and tracking CO60/61 lately, it looks like it is gonna be very tight.

sbm12 Dec 20, 2009 7:52 am

Unless you spend a LONG time in customs/immigration or the inbound is rather delayed a 120 minute connection should be fine. There is no "express" lane for tight connections at security or for bag drop that I am aware of anywhere at EWR.
