thanks for the help, Unfortunately i have never been to dallas or the US to know exactly where the different airports are in relation to the city, where I come from we have 1 airport and thats it:D

And i kinda had no say, i told the travel agent i need to get to dallas and she sent me the e-ticket.

just as a matter of interest, if i didnt mke it on time for my connection, what is the procedure, remembering this is all on a single ticket? would there be any costs involved?

Go to the nearest customer service counter and explain that you have missed your connection. There should be no charge. If you don't care which of the Dallas airports you end up at (i.e. you're taking a taxi anyways) then you can suggest to the agent that either option is fine as that may help them find you a seat sooner.

So long as you haven't already sent your checked bags on through... so if you are late, talk to them just after you leave the customs area, before you hand your bag off to the people yelling at you to hand them your bags.
