M fare question

Actually I have 2 questions.

Does M class work for overseas trips? ie: europe and or hnl?

Also, if i am currently booked in a lower class (H) and just recently made platinum can i pay the fare difference to be rebooked in M? or would it be the fare difference + change fees?

Thanks

When buying up in advance (outside of check-in), we will allow you to buy up to a front cabin fare on the exact same itinerary without having to pay any applicable change fees. In these cases, we'll simply charge you the difference between the fare you paid and the premium cabin fare. The applicable change fee will be waived, but the most restrictive fare rules between your original fare and the new fare will apply to the new ticket. If we're ever confused about this over the phone, politely refer us to GG BUYUP. [/QUOTE]

You only need to pay the fare difference; they should not charge you a change fee. If the agent you are speaking with an agent who thinks otherwise ask them to reference GG BUYUP for the revised rules.

Thanks all :)

BTW: Is there someplace I can read about the fare class rules?

What do you mean exactly? Every fare between every city pair has its own rules. You can either price an itinerary on CO.com and read the rules, or you can use a pay site like ExpertFlyer.com or KVS to look up fares and read rules.

Also keep in mind that not every city pair will have, for example, an "M" fare.

I understand that but I found it odd that the only overseas flight that the M fare upgrade was applicable for was LAX-HNL. I wanted to read the fare rules for a few random segments and see what i could find. Kinda just being inquisitive. I forgot about expertflyer.

Thanks

Things like which flights are eligible for upgrades aren't in the fare rules. That's all part of the OnePass T&C. A good resource is the FAQ sticky on the top of this forum.

Thanks sbm12, I was looking at that earlier trying to determine if overseas flights were eligible for M fare upgrades and didnt really see anything but I may have glossed over it. Ill take a close look when i get back, for now headed to the airport :)

No problem. Start here in the FAQ. Before you know it you'll be a genius when it comes to the nuance of EUA-able (and therefore -Upable) routes.

Safe travels!

Fare rules are not a particularly interesting read. In fact, they can make your head spin, like this:
(And, as mentioned, you won't find anything about upgrades, which are a function of the separate OnePass program, in the fare rules for any fare.)
