Hey...I contribute to the second-largest industry in the state!

Normally, I *would* be working tomorrow afternoon (well, later in the afternoon), but my coworker traded days with me so she could go to Seattle last week, giving me Thursday and Friday this week off. (Just too bad not Saturday! She was adamant about that...)

If anyone wants to meet up downtown, use the email me function I posted a few posts back and I'll have my iPhone with me.

Amazing menu, BOB W. Looks like you have the nosh fully covered. I can bring some cigars for after dinner if any are interested.

Cigars are welcome but must be smoked outdoors. Let's hope the rains hold off.

And I won't get into who is more productive since I've personally been involved in building a great portion of this state. :D

The Glacier Brew House is an excellent choice for lunch. I'll be there at noon.

Unfortunately, a sudden change in our bids and schedules here in the park (Due to the down economy, NPS dropped three runs and so we all have to rebid.) means I'll have to leave right after lunch and drive back up to Denali.

Sadly, I'm going to have to stay home this weekend.

I still need to come pick up some fish from Casa de Bob, but its looking like towards the end of July before I can get up there.

I was just giving you trouble about graduating and entering the "real world". The joke's more on me considering I'm a government worker. ;)

Of course, outside only goes without saying. The day's looking good so far.

You'll have to tell us more. Perhaps after a drink or two? :)

Sorry to hear you can't make it, missydarlin. I was looking forward to meeting you.

Will be looking forward to seeing you! Too bad you can't stay--beckoa was looking forward to meeting you, but he's at work until mid-evening. :(

The sooner you come, the better! We can still do a Flattop hike when you come if you can stay through Sunday afternoon (I work Saturdays). We'll miss you this time!

Yeah, way to contribute to our economy... ;)

(Isn't it rather freaky that the largest employer in the state IS the state?)

Thanks, BOB W! The dinner party was excellent with great food and generous hospitality. Give my regards, and a bone, to Simon. :)

I'll try to make the lunch with Seat 2A and jackal tomorrow -- er, later today. I'll hopefully see you both at the Glacier Brewhouse.

mersk862 Jun 20, 2009 10:34 am

I'll see everyone at the Glacier Brew House for lunch at noon!

jackal Jun 21, 2009 7:19 am

Great fun was had by all over the very extended lunch hours. ;) It was good to meet Mersk862, and it is always good to see Seat 2A, and we had a great time discussing (what else?) our travels, status, miles, points, and airline dinnerware and cutlery. :D

Hope you all had a pleasant afternoon downtown after I had to take leave of you. I am up now but heading to bed soon, but once I'm up for the day tomorrow, I'm up for whatever anyone else might be up for (including a midnight hike up Flattop for the solstice celebration with a big bonfire! :D). Up, up, and away! :D

Off to la-la land...

Seat 2A Jun 21, 2009 1:47 pm

I sure enjoyed meeting everyone over lunch yesterday at the Glacier Brewhouse. Thanks again to jackal for his unflagging enthusiasm and effort in arranging this and past get togethers. I look forward to meeting beckoa and other FTers next time I'm in Anchorage.

superscot Jun 21, 2009 4:55 pm

Glad you guys had a good time. I'll 'trois' to make it for Moose Do 3.

(I had a great - landlocked - weekend too)

jackal Jun 21, 2009 5:54 pm

We missed you and look forward to your next visit!

Anyone up for something this evening? Midnight hike of Flattop for the solstice celebration/bonfire on top? Email me at the link I've posted in the couple previous posts if you're interested in meeting up.

Have fun dealing with those squirmy balls of boneless, spineless snot-covered organs. I'm a proud vertebratarian (and invertebratephobe)...

Oh... are those technical terms :p

So the question is... we had only locals @ our event this year... how about next year?

Is jackal still going to reside in the State? (If not, he can still run the event and come up and visit us :p - so I am now nominating jackal :D)
