Hi all,
I am new and was wondering if the chat room is ever used.
I have peeked in several times and always seem to be the only one in there.
I have sat there talking to myself for a bit ,but always seem to know what IM going to say next....JK

The chat rooms used to be utilized a great deal... great place for people to "meet" and talk about things travel and not travel related.

However, I have noticed a significant drop in visitors lately. I rarely see anyone in there anymore.

Chat is actually still quite busy on weekday nights at around 11PM eastern time (US). There are about a dozen or so people in there most nights, but you're right, otherwise it's empty.

Chat's a funny place. We can have 25 people one night, and no one may be there the next. The 11:00pm - 1:00am eastern (8:00 - 10:00 pacific) seem to be the busiest times.

We talk miles, points, and etc. :D :p ;)

There's a group of regulars and irregulars. Young and old. Adults and kids. :p
If you're interested in visiting with us, we'd like to have you join us. We don't bite.

dhammer53 is spot on about the "we don't bite" comment. But if a banana makes its way into the chatroom, flyin or not, then all bets are off lol

It's pretty busy at the specified times, and we play nice with newbies. :D

Ive only been in there once, I think there were 4-5 of us total.

Currently 11 as I post this, but the window of opportunity is narrow

Yes, there of course those that seem totally tuned out until some phrase or word just happens to be entered. Amazing how awake and involved they suddenly are-- uh huh! :p :D

The chat room is alive and vibrant :D as long as you pick your times!

Of course, for someone from the "other" Hemisphere like me, that can be quite challenging ;).

Tonight (my day, though) we had 20 people in there at one point. Lots of regulars.

Yes, as the other find FTer's have stated, the Chat room is used and primarily in the late PM US east coast time :confused: Don't know why unless work has something to do with it ;) I met Downunder girl there my first time in the Chat ^ :)

The first time I was ever in chat the only other person there was Randy Peterson. I had no idea what to say so I left immediately.

I have been back after meeting other FTers who said that it could be fun. It seems to follow east coast news time though. Having lived in the midwest for so long I can no longer conceive of the news coming on at 11pm - I'm midway through my night's sleep.

I tried entering FT Chat tonight and it was up and running :) For those who were unaware, FT Chat has been non-functioning for at least a couple of weeks.

I didn't have any issues with it in the 2 times I went into the room. Each session lasted about 10 minutes until I logged off. However, another chatter apparently got booted/lost connection when I was in the room, so I guess we'll have to see how FT Chat treats other people tonight to get a better idea if it is running okay. I am crossing my fingers that FT chat is somewhat reliable tonight. It's been a long time since I've been able to talk miles, points, etcetera ;)

I won't forget you. :p
