I met a FlyerTalker this weekend

...and she's not even a flyertalker yet. :D

Had drinks this past weekend with a lady friend from a major midwestern city, and after talk of work and the like, the conversation turned to travel subjects.

She described to me how in a former job she traveled everywhere on company dime, stayed at great hotels on company dime, and how much she missed all that. She then called herself a "mile whore", at which point I had to come out to her as a member of a community of slightly insane people who call themselves FTers and all they do is talk about travel all the time.

When she looked like she might cry as she was describing losing all status on AA, (why? :p), I knew that I'd be recruiting a new member. It's amazing how some of us can bond over b:tching about WNs stupid check-in and boarding process.

Here's hoping she joins! ^

Good job, I hope so to.

The business office at my former college newspaper had too many discussions centered around us complaining about various airlines and looking up mileage runs.

I tried to get the editorial staff to do a feature article on people like us, since I knew there were 2-3 others at school that took place in mileage runs, etc. They thought we were nuts, but I was having lunch with one of my friends in NYC a few weeks ago (she was on the editorial staff) and she said she had found some people just like me, so maybe I wasn't as crazy as she thought...

Interesting. FT turned my into mileage runner. I thought they were crazy when I first started reading the boards. I wonder if most FT'ers joined because they were MR'ers or became MR'ers because they joined!?

Just think, you could make little mileage Whore-lettes. :)

The more important and OMNI-esque question left unanswered... How did it go after the drinks?
