MSP-Do September 8 - Squeakr's play reading!
 

First, a big shout out to my amazing FT fan club - violist, magic111, Jerrie and KathyWdrf - your support for this process has been amazing and i am incredibly grateful. Special thanks to violist who has traveled coast to coast for every reading!

For those of you who have followed the journey of my play, Play Dirt (loosely based on the drug troubles of several major league baseball stars) - redemption is at hand!

Play Dirt has been accepted for the Round Table play reading series at Playwrights Center of Minneapolis, MN - one of the 3 or 4 prominent new play development organizations in the country!

This is an increidibly big deal - the PWC, Lark Theatre in NY, Steppenwolf in Chicago and the Magic here in SF are some of the biggest producers on new plays and only 8 plays per season are chosen for this reading series at the PWC. It's a big step first step towards getting out of town producers interested in a full production.

If ANY of you know anyone in MSP I should/could contact, or have any media connections, I'd much appreciate it!


Otherwise -
I'll be in MSP for the weekend so may plan a Sat night dinner for anyone who will be there. Suggestions from locals for post-play food and drink would be most welcome.

We probably will be at our cabin that Saturday & Sunday enjoying the last of this season's fine crop of mosquitoes, but please let us know if there are any public events on Monday.

I think the MAIN public event on Monday is a a play reading :)

That's an excellent deal.

I'm still a maybe -- pending the outcome of a jury duty re-summons. (I already did the "hardship" excuse thing once for an upcoming one-week trip....) I've booked an award ticket and a hotel (both fully cancellable at no cost), so I'll go unless something like jury duty interferes.

But 6:30 p.m. in Mpls. will be tight for us, probably impossible, unless late arrivals are welcome. The FT crew here rarely assembles before 7.

Some Minnesota Twins Front Office people may come! I sent invites to the whole staff and one of the Front ofice guys as well as one of the development folks will try and make it!
