Hi
I have tried to search for the definition of all the acronyms used on this blog as 1/2 the time I can't figure out what is said.. such as

.bomb
IIRC
TAFN
air fare class codes

etc.. is there a thread that has all these spelled out?

Several of the acronyms you list are general Internet or chat related "words."

IIRC = If I Recall/Remember Correctly
TAFN = That's All For Now
.bomb = generally refers to the the ".com" bust in the late 1990s when many of the high flying .com investments in companies that were great ideas but with no real business model for revenue went bust/folded.

As for air fare class codes, some of them will be listed in the FlyerTalk Glossary, which is located at the top of the page on the far right under the "Help" menu. Click on Glossary and this page will come up:
http://www.flyertalk.com/glossary/

If there are any specific air fare class codes, there are many members who would gladly assist you in defining those, though they do vary by airline so try and be specific since the rules vary.

Hope this helps and let any of us know how we can help.

As for the acronyms - heck, I'm learning all that from my nieces and their constant text messaging!

Some other potential resources. The UA MP forum has an excellent (albeit largely UA specific) glossary here.
Also, there is an outstanding post by ozstamps on UA booking classes here, and a thread on Star Alliance booking codes here.

And has been appropriated by those of us in the UA forum as a disparaging nickname for united.com (as in: united.bomb). ;)

THANKS! I just found the word .bomb a bit hmm out of place considering aircrafts and terrorism... but now I understand!

FortFun:
I love the fact that as a relatively new member (hey, we are 10 years old now!) you've found some of the jewels of FlyerTalk and you are correct, they are "outstanding."

A very warm new and belated welcome to each of you on behalf of FlyerTalk.

I do need to add that is the first time on FT that I have seen the above usage.

I have, to date, only seen the term ".bomb" is used to specifically refer to the United Airlines website which apparently has always had severe functionality problems. When you are at a FT dinner thousands of miles from home and someone talks about an extremely favorable UA fare to get there, the first question at the table usually is "did you really find that on .bomb?"

Thank you very much! :)

I certainly would classify myself as a "relatively new member" :)

If I have been able to transition to suppling substantive answers in this timespan, it is a demonstration of how welcoming and informative FlyerTalk is!!
