Maybe this thread needs to morph into a Sat night meetup? At least it seems, that that is when the most people are available.

Morph it did ....

There are a few FT'ers passing thru town Saturday night. We arrive 7:30ish and need to be back at the airport no later than 10 (SeeYa to meet up with her rental car and FlyinHawaiian, me to catch the 11ish flight to DEN).

Venue: Bear Tooth Grill
Time: 7:30/7:45 pm (our flight arrives just after 7pm and need to do a hotel stop on the way)

FlyinHawaiian is landing at 9:30ish pm. So could, of course meet us 10ish. I'm sure he will be hungry & thirsty.

The plan right now, is for GoingAway and myself to meet him there, as she is departing on the equipment he arrives in on. And FH & I have to pick up the rental car.

Oooops, I posted because bk3day said in another thread she would be arriving SFO from ANC and I wondered if she'd seen this meet. Unfortunately, I'll be MRing btwn SFO and Florida that weekend. I'll be with you all in spirit.

Ah...well, I leave just a few hours after y'all do (12:40am) and so won't be able to do an encore-DO on the 25th, so we'll just have to all have a lobby-DO in baggage claim or something when FH arrives!

I need to be careful how much time I take off...I work from 4p-2a, but I'm already leaving early for my flight (will probably take off work at midnight or 12:10 for the 12:40 flight--I'll already be checked in, of course), and then I'm taking off a couple hours for dinner, too! Hope I have a job when I get back... :D

Well, I am coming in on May 24th at 9:30 on 701 and turning around on 1046 at 11:50... so I don't know if people are trying to meet between then.

I doubt its worth it to head down to mooses tooth for that short a time, but yeah pretty much what jackal said, maybe a lobby DO.

okay, removed boxo -- i knew i'd be meeting up with bk3day at sfo and sent her and another ft'er that is on my flight PMs re: dinner if they're around and interested.

Are you on the flight from DEN? If so, then yes we'll be meeting up with FIH coming off the flight (seeya and the car rental) -- I'm on that plane to DEN so will need to do the security thing.

Saturday, May 24th:
7:30 (or so)-9:45pm: Bear Tooth-Do for whoever can make it
10:15pm-11:00pm: Lobby-Do (near the UA ticket counter...unfortunately, not much landside at ANC) with anc-ord772 and FlyinHawaiian

And then we have folks arriving in early May, mid-May, a few days after y'all are here, and also in June, too...my DO calendar is busy!

I think the lobby do is more like 10pm - that's when Seeya and I planned to get there to meet FIH (we figure from gate to outside isn't that far) ... do we want to meet them behind security though if its more comfortable? That only works if there is a way to get Seeya back through.

Behind security would be more comfortable simply because of the chairs at the gates, but that would exclude SeeYa and anyone else who wants to come out (Bob or other Alaskans joining us).

There's nothing really behind security in the A concourse where United is, too.

There's always my office in the rental facility (nicer chairs), but it's a little cramped for more than, say, three or four people! (And only three chairs...)

If we could all somehow get behind security in the B/C concourse, we could all do drinks at Chili's, but they may not let people with UA tickets behind security (and FIH doesn't have same-day departure tickets, does he?).

I would certainly hope my fellow Alaskans at security check would understand us ticketed passengers wanting to spend the time at Chilis.

Those who don't have tickets could buy refundable tickets....

I'm on the late shift arriving in ANC @ 9:30 PM (UA 701) and departing on the 11:50 PM to SFO so I guess dinner is a no go for me that is unless.....

some of you early shifters wanna do take out for us less fortunate FTers :D

As has been mentioned in this thread, I am on UA 701 DEN-ANC on 5/24; it sounds like a few others will be as well. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!

p.s. Which side of the plane should I sit for better views into ANC?

Depends on the arrival, but if they're doing the typical runway 7L arrival coming in over Turnagain Arm, I like to sit on the right side. The left is better for a city view on the runway 14 arrival (although the right gives you a beautiful view of the Alaska Range mountains), but unless there are strong winds out of the south, they usually arrive on runway 7L and depart on 32 (14 in the opposite direction).

Oh, and no p.s. service up here! :D (Though I did fly on a subbed p.s. once from LAX to SEA, I think...too bad it didn't continue to ANC...)

There is going to be a meet of some sort at the airport, likely outside security as SeeYa and Bob W (he can get to a lounge though) won't have tix at that time. I think there is a post about a new bar/restaurant that might be available. A lot of people are on your inbound flight, some are staying, and others just doing a turn. I'm joining at that point to return to DEN.

You're going to the right place ... this is meeting the folks just off the DEN flight, and those about to get (back) on the return flight to DEN.

btw, my UA flight to DEN is at 11.17pm based in my itineraries, you mentioned 11.50 above, is that a different flight? (forget this - I just realized you're on the SFO nonstop, and I'm doing the DEN hop to get to SFO)

I'd really like to switch to this flight if possible, to go ANC-DEN-SFO rather than ANC-AFO. A lot more (D)EQMs, more upgrade potential (my flight shows F2), and I'd still get into SFO with plenty of time to connect back to JFK.

Will they let me do this? :eek:

Unlikely unless your flight is full and they are willing to offload you in advance. Doesn't hurt to ask, especially at smaller stations, you can really luck out.

Are you on my JFK flight as well? I believe there are quite a few of us connecting to the same ps flight back to ny (my itin is not open, so I'm not sure of which flight I'm on).

I'm returning on the 11:20am SFO-JFK... My original thought had been to try to get on something sooner (the flight from ANC arrives at 5:19am :().

I'm on the 1.30pm flight, but would like to get on yours if there was space. I arrive in SFO at 10.16 from DEN.

As things stand now, there's not a lot of C space left on the 11:30, but there's plenty on the two earlier flights. I'll probably get out earlier (unless I can switch to your ANC-DEN-SFO flights :cool:), in which case there will be at least one more C seat open for you! :D

I am an Ft'er from Downunder, and I land at ANC at 19:30 on Saturday. Would love to meet up for dinner enroute to my hotel if possible. What would a taxi to the restaurant run to once I collect my luggage?
I am in on AA from DFW.

Free for coffee on Sunday or whatever, then out on Sun night.

My guess is a taxi would run around $25.00 & would take at most about ten minutes. But we're worth it:D

OK, so the Consolidated Thread has been updated (well, it's being updated as I type this--don't expect it to be done for a few more minutes). Please check there and make sure I have all the details correct! :D

Looks like we'll have a nice dinner of six at the Bear Tooth (and more are invited--I'll send a PM to the bunch of ANC FTers to see if any can join) and a group of eight (so far--still combing through PMs and other posts) passing each other at the airport.

JohnSydney2000, welcome to ANC! We're scheduled to start at 19:30 and will likely already be there when you arrive at the airport, but before you pay for a cab, give me a call (YWHPMIJAM--You Will Have PM In Just A Minute) and see if I've left yet. I work at the airport and might be able to provide a complimentary ride (this goes for anyone--I think I can squish four other people in my little old car, though it'll be a tight fit...). However, for anyone wanting a ride, don't count on me 100%--I will be leaving work for the duration of the dinner and then returning, but since I'm technically still supposed to be there, if crap hits the fan, I might be a bit late. (I do have some new-hires coming on this week that will need training and monitoring, but I might be able to get a replacement for me who can work with them while I'm gone, freeing me up completely.)
