Any Beirut meets/parties going on these days?
 

Hello,

At the recommendation of Carol (sandiego1k) of how wonderful and great Beirut FTers are :), I was wondering if there are any meets planned in Beirut towards the end December, around Christmas time. I will be in Beirut myself from Dec 21-26th and I would be delighted to meet local FTers. I understand my time in Beirut is during the holiday season where many expats leave the country, but I thought I would give it a try!

I'm sorry to say that I won't be able to make it, but I can echo SanDiego1K's praise of the Beirut FTers - they absolutely go the extra mile to make you feel welcome in their wonderful city.

Very excited here! Im just using the search function to get the scoop on BEY.

I just booked my first flight there for end of February.... Ive never been! :D

Did someone mention Beirut, meet and FTers all in the same sentence??? :D I'm here until the evening of the 22nd; have an early flight out on the 23rd. Must do something together... Let me know...

BEYFlyer, that would be great! Maybe we can do something on the 21st or 22nd before your trip then? Let's see if other Beirut FTers would join. I'll keep this thread active so it comes to the attention of others.

GK is another fellow FTer who lives and works here in Beirut. But I'm not sure if he is going to be around for the holidays. I'm sure he'll check in soon enough and let us know...

hello.. yes of course we are in Beirut.. will only be away 27th - 30th for a Jordan trip. At the moment, we are busy Sat 22nd night, but free on 21st.

So then, Fri 21st it is. So what kind of place do you want to go to?

That sounds great. I can do any kind of place... We can do a dinner meet perhaps near downtown (around Gemmayze or that area?) or am open to suggestions if you have a better idea.

Any other BEY FTers that you guys know of? I may bring a friend whose not an FTer (:eek:) who will be in town around that time (and is well traveled)... :)

Anyway, I'll let you guys pick the place...

Ohhh... Timing is perfect; it's Adha around that time and I think we are "off" from the 20th (IIRC). Fantastic... GK and I will "discuss" at some point and get back to you for sure.

yes somewhere central is good, but needs to have good valet parking, as it is going to be pouring with rain..

Near Central district is definitely preferred, although I hear the central district itself is somewhat dead now. But all areas around it are still great, so that's good...

Bumping this up one more time for any potential FTers visiting Beirut around the holidays.

Unfortunately, I am in Manila at the moment but should be back in Beirut on the 18th. Will probably discuss with GK when I get back. There are so many places to choose really so will post something next week for sure.

OK one last bump :)

BEYFlyer, GK, hope to see you on Friday night... I suppose location will be yet be decided? I have some tight connections, so if all goes well, I'll see you guys Friday night.
