Called Sandiego1K's husband last nite - all is still well there

Realize not everyone is OMNI-enabled, but there's a thread in OMNI where some of the SoCal FTers are checking in. Some have been evacuated, and one's aunt's home burned down.
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=748843 Thoughts & prayers w/ SoCal FTers affected, but of course anyone affected by the fires. Cheers. |
it appears thare are some good signs, i can actually see blue skies outside my place here in la jolla. there doesn't appear to be as strong of a wind as there has been but the air quality is still horrible. del mar has been evacuated, as well as some inland communities a few miles north of us but so far nothing for la jolla.

As was mentioned in the OMNI thread by LLM, I was able to speak to Nick, the husband of our own lili yesterday afternoon and we do know that both are safe.
She had a flight to Paris yesterday AM and did not miss it and he had fallen in at a friend's place after Ramona was evacuated. We all did breathe a lot easier after I was able to find Nick. |

We're fine here in Pasadena--all of the problems are to the north and south of the LA basin proper. My boss (not an FTer) did have to evacuate from Del Mar, though apparently it is just a precaution at this point.

hope all is well with those near the fires and no one loses their home
there is one FT'er who is seeking something in coupon connection that really is just them borrowing something and then returning it upon going back home (he/she was evacuated) if anyone can help.. i would post the link but don't know how the posters name is emaij though (I have no vested interest nor do I have a clue who this is other than to try to help out a fellow FT'er) |
foady safely evacuated yesterday morning.
My husband tells me we have 1 block visibility where we live. People have been asked to evacuate in Solana Beach, the town south of us. The fire line is pointed straight towards us, but still some miles away. Here's a note I just got from my husband re someone who works for us: I spoke with Leon. They expect to be evac'd today. Yesterday they could see the flames on all sides but they were clear of all smoke. Today there is so much smoke they can's see a block. Their daughter is being evac'd right now and she is 3 miles south. All of Fallbrook was evac'd yesterday and the fire is raging through it today. 500,000 people have now been evacuated. Has anyone heard from Shirl or Captain Mike? |
AFAIK, our home in southwestern San Bernadino County is OK at this time.
And we’re definitely safe as we’re in Florida and will be here for another week. Glad to hear that the FT’ers who have checked in thus far are OK. |

Has anyone heard from Shirl or Captain Mike? We were at a party in Fallbrook Sunday night and returned home to immediately be told to evacuate. Glad we didn't stay with our hosts, as they were evacuated the next day, along with most of the people who were at that dinner. Amazing the number of people who left voicemail telling us to come to their homes and then later being told to leave themselves. I'm in Paris, and it's not burning! Nick is with friends. A neighbor's friend refused to leave Ramona and she reports he drove up our shared driveway and both houses are fine. |
Our church secretary's ex was evacuated last night from Lake Arrowhead, early reports indicate that the house is no longer standing :(
She didn't want to leave her house but when she saw a bear scurry from under the house and run down the road, she took the clue it might be time to go... (unfortunately the evac was not as quick as she wanted as the roads were blocked for a couple of hours with her and several others trapped in the fire zone. Thankfully all are safe today. |
