Milan to Paris

Hi All,
Hope that you all are doing well. I need you help with some ideas in getting from Milan March 18 to Paris March 23. Does it make sense to get a train pass in Switzerland for 4 days and explore that country, then buy another ticket for the train to Paris on Fri.? Once again thanks for all your help.

It depends, what are you like. Switzerland is a very beautiful country. When you like the alps, swiss cheese and good chocolate, then the trip through Switzerland is a good option.

there are dirt cheap train fares (on TGV) from Milan to Paris if you want a "quick" TGV ride. I took it last summer, it was something like 50€ in first class. or make a stop at Lyon, my fav city in France

check out www.voyages-sncf.com for booking details

rail passes can be expensive unless you are covering a lot of ground, most likely point to point is the cheapest, in Switzerland IIRC there are a number of private rail lines, so be carefull on that. Have used sncf many times thru Switzerland, but you also may want to look at milan, nice, lyon and up from there, tgv the whole way and you can stop along the way. The link from chrissxb will give you routes and times, also check www.ricksteves.com
for rail point to point maps that give you times and general costs for each of the legs. from milan, it takes 5 hrs to nice and 4 hours to Zurich, 6 to innsbruck. You can cover a lot of ground, hope this helps for the rail, as for the what to see and do, that depends on you, get a couple travel books and ck'em out.

good luck
