You also could try Jersey City, which is just a 15-20 Path train ride into Midtown.
On the waterfront we have:
*Hyatt which you could get a decent rate by trying Priceline.
*Courtyard by Marriott
*Doubletree Suites (but they can be pricey)
*Candlewood Suites.
There's also the Sheraton Suites in Weehawken which is on the LIght Rail and you can take the ferry to Midtown. Warning: it can get pricely even on weekends.

Reminder...
This is the thread from last year.
A new 2008 thread will post in the next 10-14 days. It's my busy season.
I can post the new thread, but monitoring it is something else.
I've have received dozens of PM's expressing an interest in coming on the tour. I've PM'd those of you with confirmations. PM is the only way I can keep track of everything.
Juggling all of this with very little time is well, time consuming.
I'm far from a primadona, so bear with me.

Have yet to book Thursday night but will be getting in later so might stay at an airport hotel
For the Friday and Saturday nights will be at the Barclay (Intercontinental) at $349 pn although will be using a BOGO which will help with the costs
On the Sunday night will be at the W New York-The Court at a $229 prepaid rate
Although no bargains fairly decent rates for New York
Of course Dan has to agree that I can join in
