Oddly enough, running around with $5,000 worth of hearing aids stuck in your ears gives you a severe aversion to getting wet.

I can sympathize with lots of expensive camera gear...

Thanks a lot, cpx! Doesn't sound like you can take pictures while "flying", but a google search pulled up some other really cool looking activities in addition to the fly-by-wire.

Canyoning = wet = no good. I've got to buy a waterproof camera...

Oh, yes, please remove the '+1' and add To Market To Market to the Platinum platinum list.

Arriving AKL QF25 on 8th & heading to ZQN on 9th via QF4191.

Excellent. We now have 12 confirmed so far. Not bad for the most southernmost FT do (unless I've missed one in Ushuaia or Antarctica!).

So far top choices are (weighted to those confirmed):

1) - 7 votes (Earnslaw steamship + Walter Peak high country farm)
5) - 5 votes (Wine tour)
4) - 4 votes (Skippers Canyon drive and picnic)
2) - 2 votes (Dart River jet boat walk and bus, LOTR locations)
3) - 2 votes (Skippers Canyon biking/adventure)
7) - 2 vote (Arrowtown walk)
6) - 1 vote (Gondola + luge & optional extras)

Votes to post #96

Okay, I'm now going "Platinum." Flight details are:

Nov 9 CHC-ZQN - NZ 503
Nov 12 ZQN-CHC - NZ 636

Will arrange accommodation closer to the dates.

In terms of activities, I'd go for (1), (5) and (4).

in the hurry to get the UA fare I booked my return flight on the wrong date : in February. Well done f4fJ
So I am now dealing with expedia if they allow me to change my inbound flights. Latest update is that they can't find the fare rules...

Additionnaly, because of job related issues, it's too early for me to confirm my definite attendance. Pls downgrade me to "most interested". My excuses for that.

Though I won't be able to attend, may I make two recommendations - The Cow for dinner and a drive up to Wanaka to the warbird museum.

I am interested in attending but it's dependent on a few other things so I cannot commit yet.

ZQN is a great place. And for those who asked, fly-by-wire is about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on!

So would it be twice the fun if we did it naked?

It looks like it might be a little drafty...

I'm afraid there's not room on the little rocket for two!!

And yes, it's a bit breezy (but a lot of fun)!!

Good news: First problem solved! Inbound could be rebooked to Nov 12th, including an overnight stay in SYD ^.
Concerning my work; I should have more information in September at latest. So I remain "gold".
