people did so for 63 years now ...

some memories from the first FlyerTalk years: OMNI-awards, guerilla tips 1-50, side-cars, the exclusive FlyerTalk upper business-class level on that UA flight, Randy's generosity at the PiP, Do's all over the world, FlyerTalker guests from all over the world in the Jungfrau Region (Wengen) and in our guestbook, many coupon gifts without asking for anything in return, Dim-Sums in the Bay area, a FlyerTalker chinese wedding, trips and foto-shootings with Freddie junior. etc. etc. etc.

I leave away the (to many) FlyerTalker names/persons that were generous hosts, generous guests, or 'just' very generous companions - naming some would not be fair to all those that I may forget right now.

Where is / what happened to Freddie junior?

I'm #611 and I joined the same month as you did. Must have been a lot of people who signed up then. I recall reading about Flyertalk in some business travel magazine at that time.

Learned something new today, I'm number 1062!

I joined FT just before the original PiP, and did not know what was a PiP. To this day I still don't know what is a RAR (reference to UA's Ted). I guess some things don't change...

Hint #1: Use Urban Dictionary: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=rar Thus far, there are 18 definitions!

Hint #2: It's NOT an acronym!

(I'm # 7,677.)

Actually, folks weren't joining FT en masse back in the '90s. For instance, Captain Mike, who joined in June of 1999 is only member #891.

Stimply, go back and take a look at my post #56 in this thread. It would appear that at some point in time, probably during a software update, all of us who registered in 1998 and early 1999, were reentered randomly, alphabetically, and maybe even manually, in at least two groups, and assigned FT member numbers based on the order of our reentry. Tribe Flyer just happened to land in the first group, while you landed in the second group.

So for the first 600 or 700 FT members, our member numbers are pretty random. Witness, I am FT #243 while Randy Petersen is FT member #251, and I am absolutely positive that Randy was here before I was. ;)

Wow... this thread pulled renila out? She's one of the first FTers I met - and the first female FTer (burkey wins honors as the first, period)! Its nice to see some of the familar blasts from the past!

#1226.

But there was a few years when I swore of travel and everything related to it -- I even went "status-less" for 3 years and pretty much ignored FT. Fortunately, those dark days are behind me now...

It would then apear that a second group of "originals" were again entered alphabetically:

Arturo (my love) 321
baobab 327
essxjay 410
jamiel 475
kyklin 497
newself 556
Onefreman 564

Yeah, that would seem to be correct, since I am #86, which would fit right into that list, alphabetically. No one mentioned LatinPass yet!

(And, as a former OMNI award winner, there were those great chocolates from Rudi!)

LatinPass

And, yum, chocolates from Rudi.

Since I signed up on FT to attend PIP, I have always considered myself either the oldest newbie, or the newest oldie. Haven't bothered to check out my number, however.

Axey Oct 31, 2006 1:37 pm

The ID's were all reset during the first UBB conversion, iirc. They're definitely in alphabetical order since I'm #28.
