Any ΣΑΕ's here?

Good day everyone!

So I haven't been on here for a LONG time. I have been extremely busy lately. As some might know, I had a horrible summer. Two of my best-friends were killed and my other best-friend was stabbed and rapped all in the same incident. I came to school without having any friends -- everyone else either transferred or are taking a semester off.

I have always heard that fraternities are a great way to meet great people. So I checked it out and decided to join a fraternity. After much debate (with myself) I decided on ΣΑΕ. I am currently a pledge at the Wyoming Alpha chapter.

So my question: are there any ΣΑΕ's here? The deciding factor for me to join Sigma Alpha Epsilon was the True Gentleman.

Spiff Oct 15, 2006 11:19 pm

Wow, sorry to hear you had such a bad summer! :(

I'm not a ΣΑΕ, but they had (and still do, I believe) a chapter at CU Boulder and they were ok guys and an ok house (for being members of a rival fraternity!).

Methinks the OP is not a Sig Ep either... ;)

Neither is OP. Sig Ep = Sigma Phi Epsilon. OP = Sigma Alpha Epsilon.

I think we had a thread a while back (like years ago?) in OMNI about what all of our Greek letter affiliations were.

And to the OP... long live Paddy Murphy!

YES!!! I have only known about Paddy Murphy for a month or so, but from what I have heard it is an interesting story. I have been told 2 versions of Paddy Murphy. Each is good. We have bi-annual parties to celebrate him, and this is the year for us! Woo-hoo! It should be fun. How do you know about Paddy Murphy?

And no, I am not a Sig Ep (but we do have a Sig Ep at UW). I am an SAE, True Gentleman, or Sig Alph.

Spiff Oct 16, 2006 3:05 pm

Ah thanks the correction! :o

We had both houses and both were decent enough guys.

I was an ΣΑΕ little sister over 20 years ago. It was a lot of fun! Enjoy your time, but not too much

Former Panhellenic girl here myself... I know of many things fun and Greek from my party girl days at Tech!

On the U.W. campus, I recommend joining the Pikes.

No thanks. I connected more with the guys at SAE and felt more at home there. Everyone at SAE went out of their way to get to know me. Plus, the Pikes don't really have too good of a reputation now, and they proved why during Rush Week.

baglady, that's awesome! Our chapter has done away with the little sister thing. I don't know if all SAE chapters have done it or if it's just ours, but I won't get to understand why so many talked about it.

party_boy Oct 16, 2006 10:35 pm

Nope, but was considering becoming a lambda lambda lambda! :D

God, one of our favorite drinking songs was:

I'm sorry I pleged S A E;
they're making a queer out of me.
We're not like the others,
we sleep with our brothers!
I'm sorry I pleged S A E !!!

God, if I knew then what I know now!

I am very sorry about your summer. I heard about that incident, I had no idea it was a FT'er involved. Glad you are still here with us. :-: Best wishes to you in school and with your frat. My advice, don't turn into the typical frat boy!!!!

You mean that you're a low life, dirty schmeg??!!* I hate SAE so much that I almost passed on my new school when I discovered that the mascot is a lion  Enjoy your redneck, confederate lovin' fraternity.

Here's to me in my sober mood
When I ramble, sit and think
Here's to me in my drunken mood
When I gamble, sin and drink

But when my fraternity days are over
And from this world I pass
I hope they bury me upside down
So the SCHMEGS can kiss my @ss.

*Note: in recent years there has been an attempt by members of Sigma Alpha Epsilon to assign the term "schmeg" to the brothers of Sigma Chi. While I have no feelings for Sigma Chi, I feel that it's important to note that the true schmegs are the boys of SAE ;)

.................................................. ................................................

Ahhh, that was fun :D :D :D

It's been 16 years since I got a few anti-SAE cheap shots - especially the confederate blows, that always ticked them off.

LONG LIVE TAU KAPPA EPSILON - The only real greek is a TEKE!

O.K., now I shall return to pretending like I'm actually a mature adult...

Wow. So why is SAE a confederate lovin fraternity? Is it because we were founded in Alabama, in the south? If so, then there are a lot of fraternities and sororities that are confederate lovers too.

Why don't you like SAE? I'm glad to see that TEKE promotes overall Greek togetherness like SAE is trying to promote.

You do know that I was just bustin' your chops, right? At my first school, SAE and TKE were two of the largest fraternity houses, so we were constantly playing jokes on each other - stealing mailboxes, the lions, the TKE triangle (about 20 feet tall), spraypainting "love notes" in the driveway, helping each other "misplace" items during rush week, etc., etc., etc... then we would all meet up at the local bar later that night and laugh about it (while swapping fake I.D.'s).

You must have fun with this stuff, or, well... it's not fun :D

P.S.: Before the Internet (1989), we would assign pledges to research dirt on the other fraternities, then use the bullhorn during Greek Week to announce our findings.

My brother's best friend used to have the CA license plate "SAC TKE" until he moved to New Hampshire/vermont for work and registered his car there.

Yeah, I know. :D

We did a raid on one of the sorority houses here last week. We took everything expect underwear ( :( ). When they got home all of their furniture was turned upside down, they were missing pictures and food; basically, if it wasn't extremely expensive or important we took it. The next night we gave it back to them, then went to a bar across the street and bought the girls some drinks. :D

As a very proud Pike let me just say that right now is a very exciting time to be a Pike. We are in the process of changing a lot of things internationally and are working on changing our whole image in the Greek world. My chapter is on the forefront of this as was I before I graduated.

P.S. The SAEs at GW are :td: :D
