From what I can see there is a relitively big road that goes right by your house and merges with the road that goes around the kibbutz. That road starts at a rotary near the pool and goes north, around what looks like a parking lot, up to the edge of the residencial area.
I'm glad to hear that you were not hurt, but very surprised the window shattered. I always thought shatterproofing was supposed to make windows break evenly instead of shattering. (like a shatterproof plastic ruler, which is very breakable, but will not splinter.)
Thanks for keeping us informed.

Bey, you don't happen to know your coordinates to your house do you? (maybe this isn't such a good question to answer. I would understand if you didn't) Anyways, it's bed time in Columbus, Ohio. May peace be with you!!!

For some reason -- perhaps the fact that I lived on a Moshav near Haifa for two years when I was baby -- this was has hit a little harder than earlier wars involving Israel. So it was with more than a modicum of interest that I clicked into this thread after reading about it in the recemt TalkMail e-mail. That was 6 1/2 hours ago. I won't say I've read every post, but I've read just about everyone posted by Dovster and BEYflyer. I've laughed, I've cried, I've growled. I'd say it was great entertainment if it weren't so serious. I can't wait until the end of this war -- and the meeting in Monaco. Just think Dovster can take his winnings to the Casino and put it on 22 -- it will be the continuation of a beautiful friendship. Guys, take care and keep well.

The dogs on the kibbutz don't like it at all. Most of them get extremely frightened and, as the explosions have been going on for a few days, are actually becoming traumatized.
We also have a mini zoo, with a variety of animals ranging from peacocks to antelopes. I haven't been there since this began so I can't tell you how they are handling it.
I can tell you tha all these animals are being taken care of.

I would be more than willing to use my Hilton points to get you off your kibbutz
As you can see from reading my various posts, they succeeded beyond their wildest expectations.

Question for BEYFlyer: You mentioned that you worked for the family business. How that that been affected by the rockets red glare?? Are you folks able to conduct business in some semblance of normalcy or are things on hold until this comes to a halt?

Have we picked a date yet? What about April 12, just prior to the Toulouse DO? Double DO. (Surely Ashley will be home by spring, Scarlett thought.)
I'll pick up the bar tab for BEY and Dov, can your committee do the rest?

Apparently, Hizbollah launched rockets this morning along much of the northern border.
I say "apparently" because I only heard about it on Israeli TV. I couldn't hear it from my house. I am beginning to have hope that the capture of Marun has greatly reduced the chances of Yiron being hit again -- but that remains to be seen.
Local television also reported IAF attacks on parts of Beirut, so even if the fighting around Yiron were to stop immediately, I would still be worrying about BEYFlyer.

The local (Taiwanese) media gives very little or no, coverage of the crisis over there. We're wondering what the Lebanese Defense forces or Government are doing, if anything, to stop the fighting?
Any word on the captured soldiers?

CantSki, to the best of my knowledge the Lebanese government is doing nothing other than calling on other countries to help. The Lebanese Army is saying that it will fight Israel if it invades, but to date has not (which I am very happy about).
There is no word on the captured soldiers.

There is such incredible information in this thread that we would never, ever get from any source easily. I never knew shatter proof glass was being used for housing other then in hurricane zones and near golf courses, etc. I can't picture having it because of shooting and that, that's just something that never entered my mind.
Breaking the family into different vehicles, again something I never would have considered, though of course it makes perfect sense when traveling. I actually like the idea, never gonna travel with the in-laws again, quoting this as a reason.
You guys have made a total difference in mine, and I'm assuming many other peoples understanding of what it's like to be in your shoes. I can't say thanks enough.

Big time. I already told Anna we are making that one. Assuming her entire office doesn't get fired because all they do is read this thread.

Dov,
Do you think there would be a cease fire if the soldiers were returned unharmed?

Hi Dovster, hi BEYFlyer
Another day - and another day where we all pray for your safety.
There is one thing which gives me a faint hope that this time things may be different when the bombs stop:
as far as I'm aware, there have been no major, concerted demonstrations in the NO or FO at all, unlike at the beginning of the year.
So - here's to hope ...
Best wishes,
V.G.E.

There is a widespread belief that Israel attacked Lebanon because these two soldiers were kidnapped. That isn't true.
Israel attacked because at the same time these soldiers were kidnapped:
1. Hizbollah killed 8 other soldiers.
2. It opened fire on civilian communities along the length of the border.
Nor was this the first time that Hizbollah has kidnapped soldiers, killed others, or fired into Israel (albeit the firing was not widespread in the past).
Israel's war goals are far more than getting these soldiers returned. The goals are getting Hizbollah out of the south of Lebanon, and replacing them with the Lebanese Army, in order to avoid any future incidents.
