hmmmm, it's on the list as a maybe as I'm considering a cottage weekend that weekend in which case I'll be 4.5 hours north of MKE on these dates. Been a long time, it would be good to see you again. :)

mlsrar May 23, 2006 2:11 pm

I'd be available either night, though preferably the 16th, as I leave early for MIA on the 18th.

flyinryan May 23, 2006 2:41 pm

Hey, cool! It's very likely I will be in West Allis (MKE) on those dates. I'll keep up with this thread... ^

Sweet Willie is the culinary master; I'd happily defer to his suggestions!!

Ouch, the pressure! this isn't my hometown, but I'll give it a go ^ :)

I have a favorite pizza place: Zaffiro’s which a few FT’ers have been to before http://flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=309132

In Milwaukee there is always German at the two mainstay restaurants, Mader’s and Ratzch’s(sp?)

For informal we could take out from Speed Queen BBQ http://flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=309140 and have BBQ & Beers at the lakefront.

Sollys for butter burgers and Kopp’s or Leons for Frozen Custard

Below are places I’ve always wanted to try in MKE:

SANFORD – this place always gets high high marks ^
1547 N. Jackson St.
(414) 276-9608

COQUETTE CAFÉ (French)
316 N. Milwaukee St.,
(414) 291-2655

Swig
http://www.swigmilwaukee.com/
1227 N. Water Street

Friday fish fry at Turner Hall, building is on the National Register of Historic Places and is supposed to serve a wicked Friday Night Fish Fry

edited to add: I prefer the 16th

There's a chance that I might be up there on Saturday. Probably a 20% chance, and I won't know until a couple of days in advance, so go ahead and plan what's best for the rest of you and I'll try to make it if I can.

Ginger K May 24, 2006 8:15 am

I can be there 6/16. As to restaurants, depends on how formal you want to get. Sanford and Coquette are excellent (of course, since Sweet Willie brought them up :) ), but on the formal side. If you want a great steak, Mo's is my favorite but it's downtown. Steven's Steakhouse in West Allis (90th and National), is also a favorite (classic Wisconsin supper club with a really great fish fry).

We might be able to attend on the 16th. We were going to be in MKE that weekend which means the 17th for sure.

I'm totally NOT picky whgen it comes to restaurant choices (as Willie can attest to!!), but I'm VERY picky about scheduling, at least on this trip!!!

I'd be grateful if wherever is chosen, that on Friday night, I can be back in Greenfield by 815p.

If Saturday turns out to be better, I can leave Greenfield around 845p.

All those choices sound fine....whether its casual or more formal, I'll invariably be casual!!!

Based upon this, if Friday is chosen, Ginger K's suggestion of Steven's probably fits the bill. They also have a fish fry to boot, woo-hoo ^

I was informed of a family function on that weekend, so I can't make it :(
I still recommend Steven's for fish fry, you'll have to intruduce yourselves to Steven since I won't be able to. He'll be honored to have a bunch of FTers in his place :)
