So, I'm going to have to drop off the list for at least: Friday night munch Saturday night dinner as I have definite commitments for those times. I'm going to try to make the stuff on Sunday, but there's a good possibility I will be swamped with work by then. :( I thought things would start off a little slower, but, well, no. I guess this drops me from a "confirmed" to a "maybe" for Sunday. |

(for me, at least)
Good luck with the seating....perhaps some nice person will exchange seats with one of you. |

Best wishes, Dave C u all soon...heading to the airport in a few hrs. :) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ChannelNewsAsia Newslink SINGAPORE : A Chinese saying goes "Water brings good fortune". However, business has been anything but good for many stall owners in Chinatown, as a result of wet weather over the past week. And the Meteorological Services forecast that more rain can be expected in the next three days with showers in the afternoon and early evening. Stall keepers got down to business as the rain tapered. The recent showers have been anything but a blessing for the businesses in Chinatown. Many are hoping to cash in on the festive shopping with the Lunar New Year just over two weeks away. But the rain which kept some shoppers away has also put a dampener on sales. Wong Peck Leng, Stall Keeper, said: "Due to rain, business was down 30 percent, older folks are not coming and younger ones won't buy." Catherine Yap, Stall Keeper, said: "Over the past two days, the rain was heavy and the wind was really strong, we can't even open our shop at all, the rain will splash in and destroy our products." This festive market is the biggest yet with over 500 stalls, and they will stay open till Lunar New Year's Eve. Even though business has been slow over the last few days due to bad weather, many stall owners are still optimistic. They believe the crowd will start pouring in a week before the Lunar New Year and hopefully by then, they will start spending. Still, many shoppers are willing to brave the rain and traffic... though some clearly liked it more than others. "It's for Chinese New Year mood, even if it rains, just here shopping for food and bring the kids to look at the new year stuff." "I prefer to shop in this kind of weather because it's not hot, more cooling." "Everywhere is so wet and it's hard to come out with the children in tow." The Meteorological Services said the northeast monsoon should continue in the region, with windy conditions and moderate to heavy showers in the first two weeks of January. - CNA/de |

Best wishes, Dave Looks like myself and mrs serfty will be arriving on Thursday to "Cloudy and occasionally windy with periods of showers", albeit in the evening. Heres a link to their Rain Areas Animation. Some showers scooting through currently from the East. (Looks like the radar is located near Changi). I have been advised by Kiwi Flyer the following: "Afternoon showers" is the default forecast for Singapore, either that or "afternoon thunderstorms". Its like the horoscope that says this year you will come into some bad news - almost bound to be true, and especially at this time of year which is the rainy season." |

Hopefully it will clear for the weekend, indeed. |
