WHBM gets married :)

Well we have had a couple of nice messages from FTers already in the know so far, so I would just like to put a little message here for all those who I "meet" on FT from time to time.

Ms WHBM :) seems to have accepted all my aircraft books that answer various aviation history questions here on FT (said books fill a whole room in our house), so as they are safe they can come out to answer questions in the future too, but I had better not leave them scattered all round the living room any more :D

It's on Monday 28 Feb here in London, and who knows when I'll next post here !

If you look at Who We All Are you can find reference to how it all started, and the part that BA have played in it all. Looks like BA 878 will be contributing lots to my Tier Points in the future.

Wow !!!!!

Can't think of a way to say it better. Congratulations to you both!

Thank you everyone, here and PMs, for your kind words. We're just back from a few days away. Had a great day on Monday, as you might expect, then were so well looked after at the Oxo Tower in Southwark, London. Great view of the river and impeccable service too.

Went up to Edinburgh on good old Scot Airways (that should provoke some comments) and as we are both into cities enjoyed our time there, especially as Mrs WHBM :) :) hadn't been there before. Nice hotel except that on day 2 a water pipe burst in our bathroom and, as they were full, we got moved to a glorious suite at another group-owned property which we much enjoyed.

You won't believe this but it snowed on us every single day through all this, whether we were in London or Edinburgh !

Good old ScotAirways

I loved my one trip on them, LCY-EDI on a DO328 turboprop. Was charged a full J fare (something like GBP 200 one way -- and yes, I know that on intra-Britain flights J class = fully flexible economy) to sit in the last row of the all-WHY cabin, and most importantly earned NO miles on any carrier.

That said, the staff were quite pleasant and LCY's a fun airport to fly out of.

Congratulations WHBM :) Good to meet you and the then future Mrs WHBM at the do in London and glad you enjoyed your trip to EDI ^

Best regards
Fraser

Something not quite right here. Scot Airways J class pax are sat at the front of the cabin and receive different cabin service, like meals and full bar service (yes, in a 30-seat turboprop) whereas those of us at the back (Y fare £69 each way) get coffee and shortcake biscuits.

The 328 may be a turboprop but is a brilliant high-speed performer and on Friday made a takeoff-to-touchdown run from Edinburgh to LCY of 59 minutes. Beat that, ANY jet on this route nowadays going into Heathrow !

Meanwhile everyone else was in chaos at EDI due to what seemed very minor bad weather in London that morning. BA had multiple cancellations, Easy to Luton over 3 hours late, Scot got away slightly late but due to the aforementioned good performance were into London ON TIME. And although we were on the 12.30 flight which usually carries a handful, it was full with a whole lot of fully-flexible BA/BD travellers who had transferred. A worthwhile extra load for Scot's revenue.

And they have long had their own mileage scheme. Do 10 single flights with them and you get a free off-peak roundtrip, or shopping vouchers for Marks & Spencer (the latter apparently very popular). Apparently Merlyn Suckling, the Scot MD Roy Suckling's wife, also Commercial Director and power-behind-the-throne, likes shortcake and shops at M&S. Maybe there's a message about powerful wives for me in there somewhere (coming back OT again) !
