Florence is such a glorious city.......more people need to sign up for this event!

We have heard such wonderful things about Florence that we would love to come. Actually, the company is so terrific that we would be happy to join in, even if the party were in someplace really unpleasant. :D

May is a bit busyfor us (including a trip to SYD), but we will keep looking at the possibility of another trip to Italy.

Awww, Punki.....please come! I promise I wont have "trippa Fiorentina" as the main course..... :D

Dinner May 7th
 

I added Mrs. Radiocycle so think we are currently 8 for our FT dinner....

I will be starting to plan it with my friend who manages the hotel I am staying in when I see him on the cruise March 13-17. He will make whatever arrangements with what we choose for me. We will find an excellent trattoria type restaurant and try to keep the prices as low as possible. Bear in mind that it is high season in Florence and it won't be cheap. Don't ask me how much yet because I haven't a clue.....

Those of you who are definites please post......I will be back with you all towards the end of the month with the plan......

I am farther along in our FT dinner plans for May 7th than I thought thanks to my friend at the Palazzo......have restaurant selected (owned by my friend's good friend) with decent prices for fixed price menu with excellent food.....we will have a small gathering at the Palazzo prior to the dinner for some wine and usual bar snacks.....

Please email me (vs pm ing me) if you have any dietary restrictions....ie no meat, fish........ so I may select accordingly....

Radiocycle, would you like to celebrate your birthday this night with us all even though you will be 50 + 1 day.........In which case I would order some artery clogging Italian cake for dessert.....

What wonderful news. No dietary restrictions for the two of us. One of the glories of FLR is the delicious food. More people need to come to this do....it will be very special.

Ok...I have got us a great restaurant at a great price for Firenze in the spring with 4 courses plus Prosecco, mineral water, red wine and coffee for 50 euros per person (plus we need to tip). It is at the Trattoria 4 Leoni which is run by my friend's friend......

The food is excellent. I will see my Florentine friend next weekend and learn more but I am most impressed by the menu proposal he sent me.

The main course suggestion (secondi piatti) is bistecca alla Florentine....I need to know if there are vegetarians or non meat eaters in this group. Otherwise I shall leave as is as this is a wonderful dish...

Our reservation is at 8pm Saturday May 7th. So far I count 8 of us.....

Rome 5/4-5/5 then onto FLR
 

We will be spending May 4-5th in Rome, stopping over at the Vatican then taking the train Thursday afternoon/early evening to FLR. Anyone in Rome on Wednesday-Thursday.

Maybe we can catch the same train to Florence.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in Florence.

Our FT dinner Menu for Saturday, May 7th
 

Here is our menu for our Flyer Talk dinner Saturday, May 7th 8pm at the Trattoria 4 Leoni at the Piazza Della Passera:

Starter: Mixed Tuscan Ham, Salami and different cheese

Mixed Tuscan Fried bread with liver and Buschetta with tomato and oil




First course: Tomato Tuscan bread soup

Pasta with pears, Taleggio cheese and asparagus



Second course: T-Bone Florentine Steak or grilled beef/Chicken

Fried vegetables



Dessert: Homemade Tiramisu' Cake (with white cream and coffee)

Special Prato's Biscuits with Vin Santo (sweet wine)



Beverage: Aperitif " Valdo" Sparkling wine

Mineral water

Red Wine "Pater" Sangiovese Frescobaldi

Moca coffee


We may meet for Prosecca or red wine prior to this at the Palazzo Magnani Ferroni where I am staying. My pal has said he would organize something up on their roof terrace for us.....depending on how many we are....

We may put some candles in the Tiramisu cake to welcome radiocycle to AARP......

Way to go, Dedehans !! It sounds wonderful. Isn't Vin Santo loosely translated into "wine of the saints"......meaning that it is good enough for the saints?

Radiocycle, could we send you our fight #'s and dates and have you post it on the first page? That way we can see if anybody will be in the airport the same time we are.

Is anybody up for planning a day trip to Siena? I have been, but Leonard has not, and I think it would be lovely to go for the day and have lunch there.

The base cost for our dinner on the 7th will be 50 euros but we will need to add a 7 euro tip per person. I know the service will be outstanding....

I will find out what our little gathering at the Palazzo will cost at a later date.....

Radiocycle, I hope you will pick this up and put it on your starter page. Also like Dorlee's idea of posting arrival and departures....

Please PM me with flight numbers/Train numbers (if applicable) and travel dates
 

I would like to put a schedule out on my first post, to include inbound flight into Italy, (date/flight number, time) If connecting from another city, for example Rome, The train number and date/time of the train from Rome to Florence., also departure dates.
