Are there flyertalk whatsapp groups?

I'm wondering if there are whatsapp groups for the various ft topics.

There was one set up for a local NYC Do and another set up for a few friends that were visiting a Flyertalker.

There should be at least one.

After all, a FlyerTalk member invented WhatsApp: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trav...-whatsapp.html

These are all mostly ad hoc though, for coordinating group activities during a specific weekend or FlyerTalk DO, and generally see no traffic once the event/weekend/meetup is over.

Whereas I think OP may be asking about groups for continuous/ongoing discussion of topics like manufactured spending or hotel BRGs etc. In which case, no, I don't think there are any such active discussions officially affiliated with FlyerTalk. (I forget if there may have been an official chat function in the past)

Vaguely related: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/comm...k-discord.html

Some SIN DO ones have morphed into regular WhatsApp chats which you are not on , FYI , Zorak

There used to be a live chat on FT. When that was shut down, an IRC channel #flyertalk was created by Ripper3785. Sadly it gained very little traction (other than by a banned FT troll). There are various group chats and WhatsApp groups, but no general chat. Personally I would not want to join a general FT group since that involves sharing my phone number.

There is a somewhat lively unofficial FTU & Chicago Seminars WhatsApp group with 80 members in it. Other than that, CC has multiple spin off groups.

We create official Chicago Seminars WhatsApp groups every year, but they die quickly after the event.

Welcome to FlyerTalk. For WhatsApp groups somebody needs to add you into the group (i.e., you need to know someone).

As I mentioned upthread WhatsApp leverages your phone number for your account and it is visible to other participants. I personally wouldn't be interested in joining "public" or "semi-public" FT-related WA group(s) for this reason.

WhatsApp might be useful for touching base with FTer friends more regularly or when organising DOs.

But, both the Instagram account and the Reddit sub are rarely used. That's probably because we're all on here anyway.
