Those of us that attended in OKA 2 years ago may find this of note, a devastating fire at Shuri Castle. https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...-heritage-site

Oh, fun. Just last month had a long chat in Japlish with my shinkansen seatmate en route to Kyoto about the Ise shrine and knew I had to make it there. Toyoda tour too?
Will be there next April if some J award seats appear!!

8 years, hey? Time flies when you're having fun.
I am certainly interested in making it along to this one, although a few stars to align before I can confirm
Are you going to show up for once SQ421 ?

Update for me: I just booked flights and even hotels, so I’ll be there for sure. Arriving at NGO Tuesday the 7th, giving me some time to adjust and maybe do some side trip. Not leaving until the 17th (but out of KIX), so open to post dos. (All my hotel bookings can be changed).

Hi! When I search for flights on aa, it says:
Service between HND and LAX is subject to government approval.
Service between DFW and HND is subject to government approval.

Service between SFO and NRT is subject to government approval.

What does this mean? I've never seen this before.

US airlines (AA, DL, UA) and Japanese airlines (JL, NH) are starting new services or moving existing services to HND (from NRT) following the opening of additional daytime slots at HND.
Perhaps the following threads might help answer your question:
Get ready for more HND international routes (Japan)
12 additional HND-US daytime slots are up for grab (JL)
HND / Haneda slots: AA prelim gets DFW, LAX routes Summer 2020 (update) (AA)
Delta exiting NRT, ending NRT-SIN and moving MNL flight to ICN (DL)
UA applies for 6x additional HND slots - UA gets EWR, ORD, IAD, LAX (UA)
P.S. you did say you searched AA. So hopefully one of the above links might help.

Flights are booked - I'll be heading to Hanoi for their inaugral F1 race prior to the Do, conveniently including the side trip brought the fare down about US$600.
I should arrive in Nagoya some time Thursday. Not sure about the post-Do. If someone wants to share a room, I am open to that, otherwise I'll likely revisit Osaka.
