I’ll know in a week or so if I’m going to be in New York City during the event. I’m totally unsure at the moment so I wouldn’t even want to go on the waitlist.

Just a heads up to my friends that are joining us for the first time, I bold your name after I receive payment.

Someone pm'd me about Gluten free, so I sent a note to North Square. They usually take a few days to respond. If anyone has any diet restrictions, please ask now.

Over the years, most attendees have avoided salads, so I don't put them on the menu as an option.
Over the years, most people order meat to go with their red wine. Several years ago, I was told the pork chop was good, but only one person ordered it. It's no longer an option. I even put a kale salad on the menu, and only 1 or 2 ordered that. It's no longer an option.

I've kept track of what everyone ordered over the course of a few years. The waiters were nice enough to give me a summary. Most of us have ordered some kind of fish appetizer ie crab cakes or tuna. For mains, most have ordered filet mignon or lamb chops. Several years back, the restaurant had lobster on the menu, and that was well received.

No one has complained about the choices. If everyone wants a salad, I'll make it happen.

Update

Unfortunately, my trip is now planned for the end of June. I thought I would’ve be able to make it work, however I’m looking forward to attending another NYC wine event, especially if the champagne do happens again by dlroads! I missed last year’s due to my mothers hospitalization… Enjoy, sounds like a fun format…

Post 2 on the first page has been updated to reflect payment. Time to start thinking about what wine you're going to bring. Starter whites are allowed as an exception to the R&R theme. Same goes for Champagne.

If for some reason we don't have 24 for dinner, we may have to chip in a buck or two. We still pay for 2 servers for anything over 12 guests.

If you're interested in joining us for dinner, a minimum of 3 seats became available (possibly 4).

For those joining us for the first time, here's how WineDo works.

This is a very casual dinner. Everyone is friendly, so don't be bashful. We talk miles, points, and wine.
There are 3 tables. Sit where you like.

Wines are poured in an order that makes sense. Whites to reds. I start the pouring with 1 oz (29ML). One bottle = ~24 oz. If you're not interested in tasting something, it's ok to take a pass. Last year we tasted in flights. I'm not sure we can do that with 22 - 24 attendees. After a wine is tasted, it's put back on the table of the person that brought it. Sometimes there are 'leftovers'. If so, then anyone can get up and walk over to another table and help themselves to another taste. Please keep in mind that others may want another taste too.
At past dinners, there have been wines that may be half full (half empty). At that point, pour however much you'd like. A wine friend of mine has told me he would rather park with 1 or 2 wines than taste multiple wines. I only half agree. The purpose of WineDo is to taste as few or as many wines as you'd like. It's your call.

Reminder > no scented soaps or perfumes starting Sunday morning.
Have a questions, post away.

Dan

Here's the thread from last year... 11th Annual WineDo - NYC Sunday June 3, 2018 at North Square
confirmed19. Once the count is finalized, I'll let you know how much additional we'll need to pay the waitstaff. The $86.30 amount was based on 24 attendees. Estimated $3.50 - $5.00.

Please post you wine. If you're going to buy a bottle when you arrive, send me a PM. I'd like to update the list.

Tentative wine announcement:

As of now there are no dessert wines on the list; if this continues I will bring either a 2005 Chateau Rieussec Sauternes or a 2005 Prager Royal Escort Port.

If other folks sign up to bring some dessert wine, I may consider switching to something red from Sojourn. Duckhorn, or Freemark Abbey.

If I may add my 2¢, no matter what, the Prager Royal Escort Port will make you my new (at least temporary) best friend.
