Air Force One
This is definitely OMNI, but if I wait 'til it reopens, I'll forget.
Today I was heading south on I-5 at about noon and decided to just by-pass my usual Michigan St. exit and go down to the Boeing Access Road to see if I could catch Air Force One landing. It worked out just perfectly. Just as soon as I turned South, I could see it coming in. Woo Hoo. What a pretty bird that is. I got to watch it all the way down and on the ground. For those of you unfamiliar with Boeing Field, the access road runs parallel with and right along beside the landing strip. Great view. |
Punki, i thought you were posting to say the new Do was on Air Force One http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Well I did stop and talk to them about using it for the SeaDo 6 in 2004. Things were going along quite well, they even agreed to throw in the chef, but when I mentioned that Chex was on the guest list, they balked and said, "You mean that crazy kid who was on David Letterman? No Way!"
Well I am a very loyal friend. If they won't let Chex come, then we'll find another place to have the party. Too bad, the plane matches Geo1004's eyes perfectly. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif It would have made such a great photo op. |

Cruel Irony: President to Land at Seattle's Boeing Field, One of 69 Airports on White House Chopping Block for Privatization, Says NATCA
WASHINGTON, Aug. 22 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Air Force One will be cleared to land at Seattle's Boeing Field later today by experienced, highly-skilled federal air traffic controllers. But if President Bush has his way in Congress next month, Boeing Field will be contracted out to the lowest bidder, jeopardizing safety and costing taxpayers more. National Air Traffic Controllers Association President John Carr issued the following statement in advance of the President's visit to the Great Northwest: http://releases.usnewswire.com/GetRe...d=114-08222003 |

I'm not the ultra-patriot type .. but I do love the USA .. and living in the DC area I see AF1 quite a bit .. and even on the 115th time .. it still has that mystique that it did the 1st time..

It's impressive... and big... but it just doesn't do it for me like the old VC-135, 707-derivative Air Force 1's (N26000 and 27000), did even when I knew Nixon was aboard. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

chex, just remember that Jealousy is not just a river in Egypt (or something like that).
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif http://www.af.mil/news/factsheets/VC...Force_One.html AF1 rocks! I've seen it many times. I'm also a big fan of the Gulfstream V's operated as AF1, 2, etc. etc. depending whose on board. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |

Very interesting topic... and I too mourn the timeout for OMNI... but not really on topic for Community.
I will "try" to keep this alive by moving it to Travel Buzz (airplanes = travel ??) and wait for Richard to slap my hand. ------------------ Moderator - FlyerTalk Community & Women Travelers |
