Steakhouse in Santa Maria, CA
I visited a great steakhouse with Catman and others last year but can't remember the name of the restaurant. Any help available as I have a corporate meeting at the Cliff's Resort in Pismo Beach on June 30th and July 1st and 2nd driving home on the 3rd in the a.m. Also if anyone is in the area any of those nights let me know as a drink and cigars always sounds great to me. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Since this is my old stomping ground, I'm guessing Jocko's in Nipomo, the Far Western in Guadalupe, or the Hitching Post(s) in Buellton and Casmalia. None of them are actually in Santa Maria, but all of them are in the area.

Scott the flier, it was Jocko's. I just confirmed it with newself. I wish I could have been there. Perhaps next time. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
Jocko’s Steak House 125 N. Thompson Avenue Nipomo, California 93444 805.929.3565 Originally posted in The Santa Maria Sun: Best Salsa Jocko’s Steak House 125 N. Thompson Ave., Nipomo Although Jocko’s is mostly known for its Santa Maria-style barbecue (which it also won first place kudos for in our poll), its salsa is just as popular–maybe partly because it is so difficult to reproduce. The owner and employees at Jocko’s won’t reveal their secret for the tangy and slightly spicy, yet not piquant, sauce. They won’t give out their recipe, nor give out the exact ingredients. But they will let you know the best way to eat the salsa–on steaks or on their famous beans. As chef Eddie Plemmons explains: "Jocko's was the first to use ‘pinquitos’, when a Nipomo farmer sold the ones he produced to the restaurant. They became known as Jocko beans." The small pink beans are prepared according to the same family recipe Jocko's sons, Fred and George, used when they founded the current Jocko's restaurant in 1962. Even without the "pinquitos," Jocko’s salsa will wake up your tastebuds, without overwhelming them. If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. |
Thanks for the quick response Jocko's it was. I'll post when the time gets closer to see if anyone is up that way during the timeframe.
