The Passing of 1000k00 - RIP
I recently found out that my friend 1000k00 passed away this summer. He didn't post frequently, but was an old timer on Flyertalk. I met John on a UA transcon many moons ago. He saw my luggage tag as I was placing my luggage in the overhead bin. He lived on Long Island. We broke bread several times over the years. He was a good guy. Locals may remember Kathi in the old UA JFK RCC. They were pals from the same neighborhood. She always had a smile for me when I mentioned John's name.
I know that he's flying internationally upfront. RIP my friend. Dan |
Always sad to hear a FTer passing away. RIP 1000k00.

Dan, thank you for remembering me, as I also remember you so fondly.
John had been ailing for quite a while, but his sudden death came as a shock to all of us who knew John. He was a curmudgeon and misanthrope on the outside, but the real John was a kind, generous and loving man. All of us are diminished by his passing. Kathi |
Thanks for the note neeshasmom. When a tree falls in the forest, and nobody is around, it still makes a noise. Even thought this thread doesn't have lots of comments, John's presence was still felt on Flyertalk. I would add to your comment above and say John was a gentle giant. @:-)
FYI, Alaska took over the old UA RCC, and totally renovated it. Dan |
